John Milton, however, in his poem which consists of twelve 'books', follows two stories- one being about Satan and the other one about Adam and Eve. I will be focusing on book 1 firstly. In it, Milton proposes 'Of man's first disobedience, and the fruit Of that forbidden tree, whose mortal taste Brought death into the world, and all our woe, With loss of Eden' ( 1,1-4) – These lines refer to man's disobedience towards God, and loss of Paradise in which he was placed upon. RedCrosse's triumph over dragon signifies a few things, firstly , winning of Church of England over Roman Catholic Church and Christ's triumph over death and sin. So, RedCrosse is shown as a hero and as a warrior. Still, he sins just like Adam, who is shown as something magnificent, a holy human, God's creation, but what these two have in common is that they both repent after falling into sin. In Faerie Queene, book 1, cantos 9 and 10, Caelia, the opposite of Lucifera, has three daughters- Faith, Hope and Charity (Fidelia, Speranza and Charissa), the three greatest virtues and each of them instructs RedCrosse because they are considered crucial virtues for Christians. Just as the offsprings of Caelia instruct RedCrosse, in Paradise lost Satan's children Sin and Death, who have been underground, start building a road to Earth , thinking that Satan will succeed in his plan of destroying

The novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley says a person is responsible for their actions if they do not weigh the possible consequences of their actions before making their final decision. Throughout the novel, Mary Shelley shows the consequences of actions that are done without proper thought beforehand. Victor Frankenstein wants to create life, he wants to be god, and his lust for this goal overtakes his common sense. Victor rushes into making his creature and then makes rash decisions which also contributes to his demise and the death of several of his close friends and family. The monster should be held responsible for his actions to a certain extent, however, his actions are influenced by Victor’s initial impetuous decisions.
Dialectical Journal #2 John Milton’s pensive epic poem Paradise Lost amplifies the fate of those who disobey God’s orders will follow the same consequences of banishment in hell as Satan and, his followers received. With Satan and his followers being banished from the heavens after disowning God's rules and starting a war, sent a land “one great furnace flamed, yet from those flames, no light” this place is named hell. Now that they are in hell redemption is wanted from the failure of the first war, Satan’s pride is too strong to let God have victory so he influences the other troops to join him to being another war upon the heavens again results to failure. Dramatic irony is featured in various parts in this poem.
In Dante’s Inferno, he writes about his journey through hell for the purpose of recognizing his sins. He goes through this journey with Virgil, a voice of reason for Dante. Dante meets people through his journey of the many circles in the Inferno that lead him down into the center of hell, where Satan is. Satan is seen as being monster-like with three heads, representing a mocking of the Trinity and blowing his wings around the cocytus river. The final thing seen here is the fact that Dante’s description of Satan is a bit disappointing compared to the other descriptions he has written about the inferno.
In Dante’s Inferno, Dante Alighieri's depiction of Satan at the bottom of hell reveals the theme that in Hell the punishment is always befitting of the due to the fact that the lower you go, the farther that person is from god. The picture of Satan satisfies the reader because he shows that he is the opposite of god and that he is full of evil. Lucifer is the demon in the circles of hell which he has three faces, and bat like wings in which he creates the cold wind where the sinners suffer. “The face in the middle was red, the color of anger. The devil is the supreme being of all evil. The villain, once called Lucifer and was the greatest of all angels l, rebelled against God over his jealousy of man. Turning evil and fighting the Almighty, he was destined to lose and thrown out of heaven, along with his army. In Dante’s Inferno, he resides in the deepest bowels of hell, where he tortures the three worst traitors in human history: Judas Iscariot, betrayer of Jesus of Nazareth, Cassius and Brutus, slayers Julius Caesar. In hell, contrapasso rules, and the appearances of the fallen angel Lucifer agrees with it.

John Steinbeck’s work, East of Eden, is the one he considered to be his greatest, with all novels before leading up to it. Indeed, it grandly recounts the stories of the human race as told by the Bible, including Adam and Eve, but most prominently that of Cain and Abel. It touches upon both Steinbeck’s own family and a fictional family in a depiction of “man 's capacity for both good and evil” (Fontenrose). Joseph Fontenrose, however, criticizes Steinbeck’s message as contradictory and convoluted, with no clear relationship between good and evil.
This causes trouble to mankind in both of the stories. The Monster tries to comply with humans in a virtuous way for a second time, but once again receives hatred in response. Satan’s contact with humans begins with Eve, who he persuades to turn to sin. The Monster and Satan both seek revenge on their creators.
His attempts at bringing about the downfall of Adam and Eve, as well as his encounters and interactions with the rest of God’s creation, address the initiation stage. The return is depicted in Satan’s venture back into the underworld, as well as the consequences that fall on everyone, following his actions

Martz dictates in his piece titled, “Paradise Lost: The Realms of Light,” Satan’s descent into Hell, following banishment from Heaven, catalyzes the entrance of light and dark imagery into the novel. Satan, now barred from the, “happy Realms of Light,” recognizes his separation from his former alliance with the divine essence (qtd in Martz 72.) In his brief period of grief, Satan finds himself struggling towards the light that radiates from Heaven, signaling the presence of innate light still within the fallen being. However, this light soon becomes squandered when Satan finds it, “better to reign in Hell, than serve in Heaven,” (1.263) In his decision, the prevalence of darkness within Hell increases and eventually seeps into the secular realms created by God.
To begin his mission, Milton devoted his first book of Paradise Lost to introduce Satan along with his falling angels in Hell attempting to plan a revenge on God. So, Satan is the central figure of book 1, a figure that Milton presents with plenty of epithets and with a magnificent energy and a personal pride. To what extent did Paradise Lost present Satan as a moral agent? Given the politics of the English revolution and restoration, how precisely should we interpret Satan’s language and policy in Hell? Did the spiritual poem reveal the 17th century religious beliefs or Milton’s ones?
