Liberalism and conservatism has been modified throughout the years to make up what we call government today. Liberals and conservatives have different views on how the government should run today. People that believe their beliefs are conservative belong to the Republican Party while people that believe their people that believe their beliefs are liberal related belong to the Democratic Party. These two parties seem to have different views but they debate on identical topics. Liberals are more for helping individual’s rights while conservatives concur with the ideas they don’t agree on affirmative action. Liberals are for more government controlled actions while conservatives are for small government. Liberalism first became a political …show more content…
Liberals believe that the death penalty should be abolished in every state. They think it is inhumane and is cruel and unusual punishment. Their beliefs show that imprisonment is the best way to punish a criminal for murder. They also say every execution risks killing an innocent person. While liberals want to abolish the death penalty conservatives want to keep it and use it when it’s supposed to be used. They think the death penalty is a punishment that fits the unhuman like crime of murder; it is nor cruel or unusual. Their beliefs show that executing a murder is the appropriate action for taking an innocent life. In addition, this topic is widely debated on as you might be found guilty when you’re not and you could be found not guilty when you are. This is why this topic is greatly talked about as you may never know if that person really committed that …show more content…
Abortion is the killing of the fetus inside the woman’s stomach. Liberals believe that a woman has the right to decide what happens in her body. A fetus is not a human life so they conclude that it doesn’t have its own individual rights. The government should provide taxpayer funded abortions for all the woman that cannot afford them. They also think that the woman has the decision to have her own abortion if she feels like it is necessary to have one. Liberals also think the government should be protecting this right for women. Woman should have the right to safe and legal abortions that also includes partial birth abortion. With liberals supporting abortion conservatives believe that abortion should be illegal. They concurred that human life begins at conception. Also, abortion is the murder of a human being no matter what age the fetus is. That fetus that is in the mother’s stomach is given separate rights from those of the mother. Taxpayer’s dollars should not be used in any way for abortions. Conservatives support legislation to not allow partial birth abortions. This is called the Partial Birth Abortion ban. Recently, in Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker passed a bill that cut funding to all Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood is where pregnant mothers go to talk about the things that are about what is going to happen when she has the baby. Then the mother will decide if she will either keep
Liberals use tax money to finance social programs, and make sure the economy is going smoothly. Conservatives, however, believe that the economy will flourish if it is the government does not tax too heavily, and the revenues that would have gone to the government go back into the economy. This goes back to Hoover's "trickle-down" system. Truman did finance great welfare programs, military expansion, and intelligence expansion. Conservatives believe mostly spending tax money on the expansion of the armed forces and law
Before the early twentieth century, Americans either swayed republican or democratic, but as the country reached the 1900s liberal and conservative ideals surfaced into many citizens’ mindsets. Liberals were people with modern ideas and believed that in order to better the American society, there needed to be room for change. Conservatives, however, believed in tradition and had strong beliefs on sticking to the original way of life in America. President Herbert Hoover, who was seen as a conservative, was elected in 1929. Under the republican party, many Americans liked him because he worked his way to the top.
There are two very distinct sides that continuously argue over the funding for planned parent, both sides present very well organized arguments; however, there is pros and cons to both sides. One might ask what exactly is Planned Parenthood. Several people are under the impression that this program only deals with abortion; but, this is wrong. Activist that support Planned Parenthood believe that it is the government’s responsibility to provide government aid to help assist the noninsured deal with the conflicts that are a result of giving birth. Those who are against the government providing funds for to help the program Planned Parenthood, tend to be pro-life activist, who are against abortions.
Loose Versus Strict Interpretation The constitution today is used in a loose interpretation. Although it is questioned by many Democratic republicans who believe that the constitution should be interpreted in a stricter manner. While the Federalists debate the government should have a loose construction. Both parties fear that the united states will be in danger without their views. Who came up with these vastly different views of government, you might ask.
The Federalist and Republican parties, first formed in 1790. Did you know our first political party was Federalist and Democrat/Republican. Another fun fact, George Washington was the only president to never declare a party affiliation because they didn’t exist when he was elected into office. The formation of political parties caused United States of America to split. Despite bearing some minor similarities, the differences between Federalist and Democratic/Republicans are clear.
What I would like for people to realize is that Planned Parenthood is more that meets they eye. They are more than people give them credit for, and they are more than an abortion clinic. The services they provide range anywhere from sexual education and contraception education to helping with gender identity and sexual orientation, or from reproductive services to cancer screenings and STI testing and treatment. They services they provide are endless, and all equally important. As someone who has struggled with their sexual orientation and with self acceptance, if I had known that Planned Parenthood provided services such as these, I would have taken advantage of them and gotten the guidance that I needed.
After hearing these facts’, you can better understand what Planned Parenthood is and that they contribute way more help to are society then just abortions, and by offering these health benefits we would keep cutting back the number of unplanned pregnancies and that would cut back the number of
From a philosophical perspective, libertarians generally believe the appropriate role of government is to protect life, liberty, and property. The question is, is forbidding abortion a way of protecting life, or should it be viewed as a restriction of liberty? There 's a plausible libertarian case on both sides.” Another policy that I believe that would work well with most of
Planned Parenthood is a topic that is continuously discussed in correlation with the concept of money as many believe that it “...emphasizes abortions instead of preventative care” (Attira). Because of birthrights, abortions, and the controversy that surrounds such issues, many individuals believe that the government should not be responsible for providing funding. Therefore, actually defunding Planned Parenthood is often brought up as a solution to the highly-debated consensus of government-funded healthcare services. Although many believe that creating a barrier between opinion and action is a positive push, actually defunding the program would be more catastrophic than perceived. Defunding Planned Parenthood would mean blocking and preventing individuals from receiving the health care that they are reliant on.
Roosevelt was a liberal because he created numerous government agencies to alleviate the problems of the Depression. Roosevelt felt it was the government's responsibility to take care of the people and he initiated direct relief. A conservative is usually thought of as wanting limited government,
Liberals began a process of change. Liberals are people who are pushing for freedom, equality, democracy and human rights. They are individuals who believe that the government must take action to change economic, political, and ideological policies and structures that may be unfair. In this way, Liberals show progress by fighting for a change that the government has to make, being the head of the nation. An example is the conservatives wanting less government power in the 1920s.
The Federalist and Democratic-Republicans were the first and original political parties. They share exceedingly different views on America's problems. Federalists and Democratic-Republicans are known for not getting along. They had plenty of differences but also some similarities. Their views and actions formed the America we live in today.
The believe that punishing those who are accused of a capital offense is a risk at taking the life of an innocent because sometimes there is more evidence to make one look guilty even if they are not at fault. According to usliberals.com, “Liberals agree that one of the fundamental underpinnings of a just society is the right to due process, and the death penalty compromises that.” They argue that is violates the right to life and that teaching that killing is wrong by killing, does not make one bit of sense. They say that the death penalty does not lower the violent crimes and there is no point on continuing on with it. The liberals also like to use the 8th amendment to support their argument.
Lastly, they strongly believe that the government should provide taxpayer funded abortions for women who cannot afford them ("Conservative vs. Liberal Beliefs"). On the other hand, Republican views on abortion are opposite of the Democratic view. They believe that the human life begins at conception; disagreeing with the Democratic belief that a fetus is not a human life. Republicans biggest belief is that abortion is murder ("Conservative vs. Liberal Beliefs"). Everybody hears about their party not agreeing with some of the views their party believes in, but not many people have heard about an elected official not agreeing and
Democrats wanted universal male suffrage. This group was not very compatible with liberals mainly because liberals wanted to expand. Socialists wanted worker ownership in means of production, they wanted re-distribution of their wealth. They also want higher taxes to pay for their “programs”. Because of all these different groups there are different views on what is the best way to rule, conflicting philosophies.
