After murdering king Duncan, Macbeth transforms into a more cruel and ruthless personality with different underlying fears of the future. Before committing the act of murder, Macbeth is an innocent and noble man that is loyal to Duncan. It is only due to fierce persuasion by Lady Macbeth that Macbeth gains the courage to go kill Duncan. Macbeth talks to himself just before the murder, “Whiles I threat, he lives; / Words to the heat of deeds too cold breath gives” (2.1.68-69). While Macbeth fights himself with the possibility of being caught he realizes that the more he talks, the less courage he has to kill Duncan; that he needs to do the act now or never.
