One such example of federalists’ policy is during the Whisky rebellion. A group of unpatriotic farmers, unhappy with a tax on whisky the government implemented, decided to rebel. George Washington, decided with the Federalist party to send a group of troops to enforce the law, and end the rebellion. Such actions by the government are necessary to keep our nation safe and stable. Rule of law is very important and everyone must follow the laws. When talking about the Whisky Rebellion, Alexander Hamilton asks the question, “shall the general will prevail or the will of a faction?” (Alexander Hamilton) Hamilton believes that a nation should strictly enforce the laws, instead of submitting to the wishes of a small group of people. If, whenever someone disapproves of a certain law, he decides to rebel, then the nation will never be stable. Only by enforcing all laws can we succeed as a nation and prevail. Critics of George Washington’s courageous actions argue that repealing the law would have been better. However, if we repeal all laws that face just a little disapproval, how can we as a nation expect to succeed and be strong? Only by strictly enforcing against rebellion, and passing necessary laws can we as a nation succeed. Critics however, also argue that the Whisky Tax is unconstitutional. However, the great Alexander Hamilton states that the Constitution says that, “Congress shall have the power to lay and collect taxes.” (Alexander Hamilton) It is unfathomable how one could deem such a tax unconstitutional, as it is clearly expressed to be constitutional in the Constitution
The Corrupt Bargain The election of 1824 was undoubtedly unique, but it seems it may have been the result of a corrupt bargain that John Quincy Adams himself had set up. The election consisted of four different candidates; William Crawford from Georgia, Speaker of the House of Representatives Henry Clay, John Quincy Adams from, and Andrew Jackson from Tennessee. Jackson had a lot of support from the voters because of his role in the battle of New Orleans.
In the Declaration of Rights and Grievances issued by the Stamp Act Congress, they claimed that Parliament lacked the power to tax the colonies because they had no representation. While the Stamp Act was repealed, the colonists were never given representation in Parliament. In the “Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Taking Up Arms”, issued by the Second Continental Congress, this same issue was cited as a justification for fighting. “[The British declare] that parliament can ‘of right make laws to bind us in all cases whatsoever.’ What is to defend us against so enormous, so unlimited power?”

As previously mentioned, Thomas Jefferson would go on to describe this infamous election in the form of a nickname – the Revolution of 1800. While the goal of this essay is to further analyze different ways in which the election itself was revolutionary, it is still important to understand Jefferson’s initial purpose for the phrase, the Revolution of 1800. According to research, this phrase began because Jefferson believed that the election was a revolution of policies. In other words, he found the peaceful transition between a government functioning from a Federalist leader to a Democratic-Republican leader to be quite revolutionary. Jefferson is correct in the assumption that him and Adams embody completely different political views, but
The Whiskey Rebellion, a protest to stop the taxing on liquor and whiskey, represented the first major test of the national government's ability to enforce laws within the states. Because the Whiskey Rebellion farmers threatened both “the just authority of government” and “the rights of individuals,” Washington used military force to show that armed rebellion was not allowed. Washington determined that the national government had the right to pass laws and the right to enforce these laws to keep the nation running smoothly. The military dominance of the Whiskey Rebellion established a precedent that United States citizens wishing to protest had to do so peacefully through constitutional means, not jeopardizing citizens’

In the election of 1800, Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr were tied for the role of the president. The Federalist Party is one of the two original political parties in the United States of America. These two parties originated during the first administration of George Washington. They also had different perspectives towards the proposed treaty with Great Britain (MacDonald, 1905).
When the year of 1807 came around, the way that America elected a president changed. In previous elections, only the rich men were able to vote which as a result whoever promised more the wealth was elected for president. When the common man was able to vote in 1807, the type of candidate to win the election change. As seen in the election of 1828 the person who was more relatable to the people, won because the common man was able to vote and so they used that opportunity and elected whoever they thought was going to help them. Overall the people preferred Jackson over Adams because Jackson was able to relate to the people better, and because he was a symbol of the American dream.
