Jeffrey Dahmer was a notorious serial killer, who had a lot more to him than just killing. He had deeply rooted problems that led up to all the murders that absolutely no one saw coming.
Jeffrey Dahmer was born May 21, 1960 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to parents Lionel and Joyce Dahmer. His parents said that Jeffrey was, well, normal as a child. They never saw any signs of him growing up to be this notorious serial killer, but then again, no parent wants to ever picture their son being a monster. Jeffrey had a surgery at the age of four to correct a double hernia, and that’s when things started to become distant for Jeffrey. Dahmer became sort of a loner the rest of his childhood years. When he

He had just graduated high school, so Dahmer was fairly young. At this point, his dad had moved away and his mom, following the divorce, leaving Dahmer an empty house to fulfill his curiosity of murder. He picked up a hitchhiker, Steven Hicks, and took him to his empty parents’ house. Dahmer relaxed with him and made him feel safe. When he wouldn’t do as Dahmer wanted, he hit Hicks in the head and strangled him to death with a barbell. He dismembered Hicks’ body and put the body parts in bags, burying them in the back of his parents’ home. He later dug up the remains, crushed the bones, and scattered them throughout the …show more content…
September 1987, he took Steven Tuomi, where he had met at a gay bar in Milwaukee, to a hotel room. They drank, and Dahmer says he woke up to Tuomi dead. He had no memory of killing Tuomi or any of the activities from the night before. He went to the store and bought a very large suitcase to haul Tuomi’s body in from the hotel to his grandmother’s basement. Like the first victim he dismembered the body and masturbated on the dead corpse. Dahmer killed another two victims in his grandmothers basement before he moved out. His grandmother had no idea of what was occurring but she was fed up with his
After taking him back to his apartment for sex, he drugged Miller and slit his throat, then he took photos of the body. Dahmer put Miller’s biceps in the freezer so he could eat them later, and bleached the bones. On September 24, Dahmer met David Thomas and offered him money if he would come back to the apartment with him. This time, Dahmer killed his victim, but he did not have sex with him. He did, however photograph the dismemberment process.
Because of the lack of evidence, Dahmer was not charged for Tuomi’s murder, but because of an alleged struggle due to marks on Dahmer's body, it hinted it
On the night of July 22, 1991, Milwaukee enforcement officers took notice of a man running and stumbling down the street. When confronted, he said that a man had threatened him with a butcher’s knife. After arriving at Jeffrey Dahmer’s apartment, Dahmer allowed the police to search the apartment. When the officials entered, they were hit with a putrid odor and had discovered various body parts scattered about his apartment that belonged to 11 of his victims, as well as Polaroid pictures of his victims' post-mortem in indecent poses. Dahmer was arrested on sight and taken into custody (“Serial Killers”).
Dahmers modus operandi was to find single men, ask them to go home with him for the night, either to his grandmothers or his apartment depending on where he lived at the time, then usually ask them to pose for pornography for him, perform sexually, drug them, murder them, and then cut up the bodies for disposal. He was considered a necrophiliac, a cannibal, and was a convicted pedophile. Dahmer mainly targeted young men and boys between the ages of 14 and 33. Most of his victims were African Americans, as he once said he hated black people, but not all of them were. All of his killings were in Wisconsin, and one in Ohio, being his first ever murder.
Dahmer would not kill again for nine years. Dahmer developed a drinking problem which led to him dropping out of Ohio
According to reports “he continued his fascination with dead animals, dissecting dead squirrels in his grandmothers basement and dissolving them with chemicals” (crime museum). Nine years after the first murder Dahmer killed again. This time he picked up Steven Tuomi from a bar and reportedly killed him on impulse and Dahmer said he had no memory of killing him.

Death, rape, murder, psychopath: words that vehemently cry for horror and taboo yet carry a mystique and fascination to not only the criminally obsessed, but also to the average person. As a result, authors and directors tend to capitalize on the viewing public’s urges for crime and thriller, often recreating stories of the world’s most tragic, sadistic serial killers in history through biographies, documentaries, television shows, and movie adaptations. Unfortunately, these dramatizations can sometimes overshadow the impact of these crimes, exploiting the violence for entertainment rather than the tragedies itself. However, in 2012, illustrator Derf Backderf revolutionized a new medium to portray the true crime genre with his graphic novel My Friend Dahmer. This comic book style memoir details of

A serial killer can best be described as a person who commits a series or murders, often with no apparent motive and typically following a characteristic, predictable behavior pattern. A disturbing fact about serial killers is that most of them should be eminently identifiable. Serial killers commit their acts specifically in one place, therefore, give the residents of the community, its police force, and even their neighbors ample opportunity to find out what they are. The fact they are not caught is attributed to three factors. The first being the characteristics of the victims, which in Jeffrey Dahmer's case he prayed mostly on gay men.
