Jeffrey Dahmer, a sex offender, and serial killer was charged and convicted of murdering 17 males between the years of 1978 and 1991. Dahmer was known to rape, dismemberment, and eventually indulge in consuming his victims through cannibalism. Jefferey Dahmer was a lifelong alcoholic. In his teenage years, Jefferey started consuming large amounts of alcohol to cope with his sexuality. He repeatedly attended class in high school and college drunk and incoherent. In 1978, Jefferey Dahmer committed his first murder. During the time Jeffery’s parents left him living alone, Jefferey was overcome with a sense of loneliness. Dahmer picked up Steven hicks, a hitchhiker, and took him back to the Dahmer’s house for a beer. Once Hicks expressed his desire to leave, Dahmer struck him in the back of the head with a 10 lb. dumbbell. After the murder, Dahmer dissected Hicks and scattered his remains in the backyard. After taking him back to his apartment for sex, he drugged Miller and slit his throat, then he took photos of the body. Dahmer put Miller’s biceps in the freezer so he could eat them later, and bleached the bones. On September 24, Dahmer met David Thomas and offered him money if he would come back to the apartment with him. This time, Dahmer killed his victim, but he did not have sex with him. However, Dahmer was only charged with the murder of 16 out of 17 of the murders, as there was a lack of evidence to support the murder of 28 year old Steven Tuomi. There are two prominent victims in this case which become prevalent pieces of evidence backing the victimization involved with this case. One of which was Dahmer’s first victim, Steven Hicks. Hicks was 19 years old at the time of his encounter with Dahmer. After graduating high school, Jeffrey’s parents were in the midst of a divorce and argument over custody of Jeffrey’s younger brother.
In 1989, Dahmer had a lucky escape from the law after encountering a 13-year-old Laotian boy which led him to be convicted of sexual exploitation and second-degree sexual assault. He pleaded guilty to these charges stating that the boy looked over 18. In March of 1989, while awaiting his trial, he lured, strangled, sodomized, photographed, dismembered, and disposed of an aspiring model named Anthony Spears and multiple other young boys. During his trial, he was sentenced to one year in prison, for which he would have been charged more but he promised to change and enter into rehabilitation programs. After he was released from prison, he developed routines and started to experiment with disposing of bodies using chemical means and eating the flesh and organs of his victims.

According to his official biography updated in 2017, Jeffrey Dahmer strangled over 17 males in his lifetime, sexually assaulting and dismembering them after they died. After his arrest in 1991, officers found many body parts in jars around Dahmer’s house including a head sitting in his refrigerator and many horrific polaroids of his already dead victims. A couple of weeks into this his neighbors started complaining about the smells and weird noises coming from his room. One neighbor named Glenda Clevland had a big role in Dahmer’s story. One night 14-year-old Konerak Sinthasomphone escaped from Dahmer’s apartment naked and barely able to walk/talk. Glenda’s niece called the police and tried to get him to help, but Dahmer showed up and said that Sinthasomphone was his boyfriend.

After hours of drinking, listening to music and talking, young Hicks was ready to move on and continue his journey. Jeffrey however, didn’t want Hicks to leave, so he hit him with a 10 pound dumbbell twice in the back of the head.
The trial began in January of 1992 with an eight-foot wall of bulletproof glass around where Dahmer would be sitting to reduce the risk of him getting shot(pink 10). He was charged with fifteen counts of murder(green 61). Since he had already confessed his murders to the police, he pleaded guilty but insane. They claimed the cause of his killings was a result of his fear of being alone. This in effect, directly lead him to have sexual relations with the bodies(blue 97).

Dahmer pleaded that for the reason of all his murders was because of insanity, but the court said that he was sane and was declared guilty on 15 counts of murder. The 15 counts of murder landed him 15 life sentences in jail, which equals out to 957 years in prison. While he was in prison he became a born-again Christian and gave his life to lord. His time in prison was short lived, he got attacked a few times. The first time he got attacked they tried to slit his throat which only left him with superficial wounds (Jeffrey Dahmer).
Jeffrey Dahmer was caught because one of his victims had escaped, when the victim left the apartment he then found a police officer and told him what happened. Dahmer agreed to get the key for the handcuffs he had put on his victim.. When the officer walked into Dahmer 's bedroom with him he saw pictures every where of parts of the human body and a refrigerator full of human skulls. That 's when they decided to go ahead and put Dahmer under arrest. The police quickly began a search on the apartment.
