I got work to do. A job to do. Business to handle I, said”(Reynolds 100) this quotes shows the degree will took to following the three simple rules, He did not cry, He did not snitch and most importantly he’s on his way to try to get revenge. When Dani was in the elevator and saw that Will was trying to conceal a gun Dani asked Will “But you ever even shot a gun? She asked. Don’t matter, I said. Don’t matter”(Reynolds 143) In his quotes Reynolds wrote about how in Will’s mind that he had to follow the third rule which was Revenge. He never thought of the logistics because he has never shot a gun before and when he was asked if he has ever shot a gun before. He said it doesn't matter which implies he has never, but he is confident that he …show more content…
Will father teaching his son that he just met a valuable lesson. Will’s father held at gun point by his father because from his father experiences of shooting the wrong person he does not want his son to make the same mistake. A prime example of selective memory is when Will said “the day before yesterday, when Shawn died, the moon was off. Somebody told me once a month the moon blacks out and becomes new and the next night be back to normal”(Reynolds 22). This quote shows that will select the memory from the day that his older brother died because he said the moon was shut off. Will’s father was not around him during his childhood, after Shawn died he ran into his father and told him the plan to get revenge, Will did not know this but when his father was trying to get revenge he shot the wrong person and his father did not want Will to make the same mistake so” He pulled the gun from my waistband. And put it to my head. What are you doin’? Is hrilled, in shock. What the hell you doin’! Eye-to-eye, a tears streaming down his face. Just one, so it ain’t really count. Chest aching like a weight crushing me, biscuit tight against my temple. He cocked it. Sounded like a door closing”(Reynolds 223) This was important because Will remembered this lesson from his father which is important so he would not make the same mistake his father
David retreats a step. Might be the first time in his life he is had a gun pointed at him by someone ready to use it. David: Don 't you do it! The man brings his eye to the sights, draws back on the trigger and bang” (Wright 1-3).
‘It is just the other way around. You are going with me.’ I pointed the revolver at his belly and shot him down.” This is a true act of braveness. When she was in danger she stood up for what she thought was right and cocked the gun and shot and did not back down
In this quote, Wes Moore, the author, recalls one of only two memories he has of his father. The first memory is when Wes’ father protected him, then in the second, Wes foreshadows a life changing entve. The loss of his father. This reveals that Wes remembers little of his father and has missed a fatherly influence in his life. Through missing his father, Wes is able to have a connection with the other Wes
He followed Jim to the carnival even though he didn’t want to. Will tried to tell Jim to put the lightning rod on his house, but he didn’t have the courage to tell him a second time. William was also terrified to tell his dad what was going on with the carnival and Mr. Dark. In the middle of the book, Will was still scared and played in the background, but he started to speak up for
The kids did not want to go to arm wrestling, really they picked where they went, but if the dad was not so laid back and was serious like the other dad he could've said no we are going there. At least the father wanted to do something with them. The two fathers have opposite personalities because of their time in life and the situations that they are in. The father in Little Things will grow out of his selfishness and will want to set a day aside for just them, so he spend time with his kid like the other
pg. 216 -Mikey Holloman. The significance of this quote shows you that when you do something wrong and unchangeable, like shooting someone you will feel a horrible amount of regret and guilt. You are never able to get someone's life back once you take it away from them. Also my quote shows that once you make an unchangeable decision like shooting someone, you will distance yourself from socializing and the people that you truly love because when you make a regrettable decision, you just can't be completely normal and act like nothing happened, that's a really difficult thing to do.
First look at the rules the men of Wills community live by, No crying. No snitching. Revenge. This is ingrained into Will’s head. He even plans revenge the night his brother dies, acting on rule 3.
Throughout the beginning of the story, Will describes the gun ad “ Like a newborn baby. During the story, the gun becomes a representation of a cycle of violence that’s passed down from generation to generation. This ultimately supports Reynold’s claim even though that you are born into a cycle of violence you always have
/ Just tell me who killed him WIll/” The Darksuns. Do you remember/Riggs, used to live around here?/ Think it was him. Had to be?/ Had/ to/ be,” (139-140). Will neglects the emotional turmoil he’s experiencing and refuses to better address coping mechanisms; with the new points of view about anger, and revenge. The emotions that Will face throughout the story play a significant role in his choices and decision-making.
According to the novel Will’s Dad says “Couldn’t kiss your mother, Couldn’t kiss you boys good night. Just lay naked in the scummy bathtub. The cold porcelain keeping me from sleep. From nightmares.” I believe that this piece of evidence played a big role in Will’s decision to bring the gun home, because he realized that after his father had gotten revenge on the person who he thought killed Will’s uncle he could sleep, eat, or even kiss his boys goodnight.
This quote is significant because Wes was always getting in trouble. Eventually, Wes got into so much trouble he was facing a life sentence in jail for robbery and
One big way to improve Will’s communication is to deal with the relationship violence that occurred to him. Sean started this for him in the scene where he tried to get Will to see that his upbringing was not his fault. This was a big step for Will to understand himself and how he should see his relationships. Through Sean, Will also learned some emotional understanding of himself. Emotional understanding will allow him to have emotional competence.
During the film Will demonstrates anger as well as irritability in a short tempered manner. In a particular scene, Will becomes overwhelmed with anger after encountering an old classmate who bullied him in preschool. Such anger and irritability caused Will’s mind to become blocked during the violent act in which Will also assaults an office. The incident ultimately leads Will unraveling the root of the
