Bullied
Jamie Nabozny was put through agony in the first half of his academic career, but preserved through his difficulties and stood up to his bullies. Were you ever bullied? If so, when? During Jamie’s usual school hours, pejorative words were hurled at him to diminish his spirit, because of his sexual orientation. The words fell like sharp knives on Jamie’s confidence. Even teachers gave foreboding reasons for why he was bullied. ”What do you expect when you hit on the hockey team”, or “boys will be boys”. You can feel the despair in Jamie’s heart. It was like Jamie was living in a world where only hate was emitted towards him. In the Bullied documentary, it proves that any person can stand

At first, he was taunted with hurtful words, but the bullying only escalated from that point. Violence started ensuing, and the words changed to fists. I can just feel Jamie’s agony. Once, he was beaten so hard, he was admitted to a hospital. Another time, his fellow peers knocked him into a urinal and started urinating on him. Jamie was tired of his schoolmates bullying him. I can feel Jamie’s despair. It was like Jamie was stuck in a hole. The more he climbed out, the deeper the hole became. Jamie’s mom contacted the Principal of the school, Principal Podlesny. Jamie had a conference with his mom, Principal, and the boy who were bullying him. He expostulated with Principal Podlesny about this constant bullying. “We will take care of it” stated the principal. But, nothing happened. The bullies repeated the abuse of Jamie. I can just feel Jamie’s hopelessness feelings. Jamie reached out for help from a community health center. At first, Jamie was relient to do this, with the malicious words the bullies told him if he told anyone of the abuse echoing in his head, ”If you tell anyone, we’ll kill you”. At the health center, Jamie met with Legal advocate Joan Felt. She advised Jamie to pursue the school district, which was completely incompetent with Jamie’s bullying problem. This show of resilience is very impressive. Jamie didn’t run away, ignore, or give up. He was knocked down, stood up, knocked down, and stood up again. He represented all the students who are tormented everyday at school, and he fought back. And won. Jamie Nabozny is a perfect example of a boy who stood up to the problem of bullying, and faced it , even though he had improbable odds against
A superintendent, Gus Sayer, from South Hadley High School informed the staff and students about the fifteen year old Phoebe Prince's death. However, the small town of South Hadley already knew Phoebe Prince was dead. The message about Phoebe Prince’s death was sent out on Thursday and by Friday there was a student-run candlelight vigil on the school's softball field. Local papers began to say students knew Phoebe Prince was miserable at school. These local papers had horrible headlines such as “Teenager Bullied to Death” and “...Phoebe Prince 15, Suspected of Committing Suicide Because of Bullying”.
The lethal actions taken by students nationwide, and even worldwide, contribute to a loss of students from suicide in the education system. In the case of Myers v. Blue Springs School District, a 12 year old boy had hung himself due to constant tormenting from fellow classmates because of his Cleft Palate. The bullying occurred from 2001 to 2007 and ended violently in February of 2007 with the 12 year hanging himself. Brandon Myers underwent various surgeries to improve his smiling, which still kept a speech impediment. Despite the hardships, Myers also continuously dealt with the his diagnosis with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, also known as ADHD, keeping in mind of Myers having to deal with his parents divorcing, which did not
When he was young, Dylan Rosnick just wanted to play baseball, a simple enough request for a child growing up in the Loudoun County exurbs. He wanted to tie his shoes, too, and hold a pencil the right way, and button his shirt, and brush his teeth. There 's not a lot of guidance, though, for a child with Proteus syndrome, a genetic disorder that affects fewer than one in 1 million births worldwide, according to the National Institutes of Health. It causes overgrowth in bones, skin and other tissues.
In Bullied, Jamie teaches viewers that resilience is a very important quality to have when fighting for what you believe in.
On the second to last day of school, during recess, third graders ran around the blacktop. On the aforementioned day, clouds filled the sky and a light rain was wetting the playground. While his classmates played, a third grader threw another student’s shoe, angering the owner. In fury, the student who owned the shoe went around the playground with one of his friends to interview others about what the classmates didn’t like about the student who threw the shoe. Soon after, the target learned of the incident from his PE teacher.
The theme of standing up to bullies is used throughout the entire book on many different characters, Chris Coughlin is one that has learned how to stand up to his bully. Throughout the book, Chris gets bullied by Mike about him wearing his dead brother’s letter jacket, but towards the end of the book, Chris and Mike decide to race for cutter letter jackets. With the encouragement from the other swimmers, Chris manages to beat Mike in the race. Now in modern day, standing up to bullies is a big social problem, one modern example of standing up to bullying was when Keaton Jones, an 11 year old school student was being bullied and he decided not to stay quiet about it. Keaton had recorded a video of himself talking about him being bullied and how it affects victims of bullying, his mother later posted the video online
The story that you read bellow, I read in the Web page NSPCC, (The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) from Union Kingdom. An afflictive story that began in school when Jamie was 15 years old. In the couple of weeks in the fun up the sexual assault against Jamie, her assailants began to intimidate and humiliate a group of children in front of everyone else. However, although Jamie try to distance from these bullies, does not long for them to notice her and began to bother her verbally.
James hadn’t even made it through the rest of school yet and he had to pass the schoolyard, two more times or as James called it, death row. James has always been bullied. As a kid growing up from 3rd grade to 8th grade. James has had it all ganged up on, pushed into lockers, beat up, criticized, and tested.
That is the side of bullying that we do not usually. We do not get to see the survivors trying to get back to normal. We do not usually get to see their life during the process of putting it back together. We do not usually see how the victims education is impacted by bullying. Which is why “Bully Proof Classroom: Confidential” goes above and beyond with finding a way to make it such an informative film to
In “How to Handle a Bully,” by Kathiann Kowalski, an experienced journalist, Kowalski reports the different strategies to stop bullying. She informs that bullying is at its peak in the late teenage years, but can start in an early age. Kowalski concurs that girls intimidates as much as boys; however, they do it differently. She explores many reasons why bullying occurs at the first place, and who starts bullying. Kowalski exemplifies the situations that victims could be in, and the solution on how to handle the bully.
Since he was in a wheel chair he had to be extra cautious from many bullies in his school. The worst thing was that Steve Kosgrov was his step brother, a mighty bully. Every single day Jamie was tortured by him which made his life forlorn. Jamie was not given a room in the house so he had to use the freezing garage as a room for himself. This for sure, for a kid, should take lots of self-determination to face these situations for him on a daily
The mistreatment turns physical. The bullies “put milk on my and put ham down my cloths, throw bread on me”. Keaton then says “the worst part is it is not just me it is other kids too. How's that make you feel?" his mother asks, and Keaton begins shaking his head.
Bullying in Schools What seems fun and harmless for some students, is painful and degrading to others. Bullying has been a critical issue around schools, but before it was not as dangerous and know as it is now. These do not means bullying was not happening, it means it was not taken into consideration by parents or teachers. They thought it was just peer pressure or a kids game, and sooner or later the kids would be friends again. At one point, bullies think it’s normal to be mean and abusive to other students.
Why should we stop bullying? “I would rather be a little nobody, than to be an evil somebody.” ― Abraham Lincoln (GoodReads, n.d.). Bullying is a major problem that we haven’t been able to stop, bullying has been exceeding every year, and it is the time to make it stop!
Bullying has been a very challenging issue to resolve for many years. It is increasingly spreading by the use of social media, where most bullies spread malice at the touch of a button. Bullying’s prevalence has lead to numerous consequences such as anxiety, depression, diminished effort in academics, and suicide. Many schools have implemented effective anti-bullying policies to prevent these consequences from occurring, but this school’s current policy hasn’t incorporated strict rules and consequences to battle issues associated with bullying. In order to eliminate bullying as a whole, the school must implement a new policy which imposes strict consequences on bullies.
