James Madison James Madison also known as the “father of constitution” born on March 16,1751 in Port Conway Virginia and later dieing at the age 85 on June 28,1836. Madison was the oldest of 12 children, seven of whom lived to adulthood. His father, James, was a successful planter and owned more than 3,000 acres of land and dozens of slaves. He was also an influential figure in county affairs. In 1762, Madison was sent to a boarding school run by Donald Robertson in King and Queen County, Virginia. He returned to his father's estate in Orange County, five years later. His father had him stay home and receive private tutoring because he was concerned about Madison's health. Madison can rightly be regarded as the principal framer of the Bill of Rights which the First Federal Congress submitted to the states in 1789. Many congressmen felt that he was acting with excessive movement in calling for quick action on the subject of amendments. If Madison did not pressed the congressmen to consider the amendments he had introduced early in the session, then the Bill of Rights might never have been added to the Constitution. Madison said that, if elected to the House of
Representatives, he would favor adding to the Constitution "the most satisfactory provisions for all essential rights." Madison introduced a series of thirty-nine amendments to the constitution in the House of Representatives. Among his recommendations Madison proposed opening up the Constitution and inserting specific rights limiting the power of Congress. Seven of these limitations would become part of the ten ratified Bill of Rights amendments. On September 25, 1789,congress approved twelve articles of amendment to the Constitution and submitted them to the states for ratification. If Madison was not so stubborn on getting his way then I am not sure we would have The Bill of Rights, or as many rights as Madison wanted. He was also a great supporter in creating a constitution for America. He retired feeling convinced that America independence was secured. He was a powerful leader for our nation and without him I am not sure we would have such a powerful nation. He mad some key decision when it came to making the constitution. He had faith in having America become a free nation and he never gave up on that dream. Even though Madison was a short little fellow he had a powerful voice and knew how to get his point across. His goal was equality and he wanted to make sure everyone was happy and that is why he created the system of checks and balances to balance out the government by not having one branch be to strong. I believe this is what makes America strong because we have found that balance between the government and the citizens and we as a nation make everyone feel like they are apart of it by having freedoms and
