How Rock and Roll Has Been Affected and Evolved Through the Ages Larry Williams, the blues and rock and roll singer, once said, “Rock and Roll has no beginning and no end for it is the very pulse of life itself.” With this quote, he shows that rock and roll truly is an ever-changing enigma. Its lifespan is similar to that of a human’s life because it has consisted of many phases like rockabilly, doowop, and many others. It has had its ups and its downs with the appearance of young new talent that inspired people around the world, and the death of superstars has ripped fans apart as long as this historical music genre has existed.

Music has sifted through time continually changing from medieval music, to renaissance, to a current era of multiple genres of music. Influential moments has been captured through music, and it quickly revolutionized music as a source to capture events, big or small, as a platform to inform society. This era of multiple genres spans the beginning of the 1990’s where hip hop surfaced and is still continuing to redefine the movement of music through many hip hop artists. This creates different purposes for music and how it affects society through the storytelling of music.

As much as these pop stars influenced young people, the youth culture, as well, constructed the pop music because young people are what made these pop culture possible and allow the pop stars to rise and live in fame, without these youth, pop music would not have been as successful as it was. For this reason, both pop music and youth culture go hand in hand as they work to reinforce and define one

It was only when I discovered Youtube fashion did I find my fashion icon. While she is not viral or well-known by any means, she means a lot to a woman of color like me that adores her style.
Erin Campo Mr. Condron English III 25 April 2023 The Power of Rock and Roll: How It Changed the Music Scene Rock and roll truly was a pivotal moment in history, especially in the music scene. Before rock and roll, there was rhythm and blues, gospel, jazz, and country music. Events, bands, and artists have all contributed to the growth and development of rock music as we know it today.

Inspired by social icons in the news, most American followed suit in the crazy hair trends, soon making them the norm. Following the trend of consumerism, dressing for success also became big as citizens tried to mimic the wealth and beauty they had come to know in icons of the time. Genres of dressing also arose in the contrasting styles of “Preppy” and “Street Style”. The first favoring the typical white-suburban look, many wore pastel polos, sweaters, Keds shoes, and jean or khaki pants. Street style, however; followed the rise of Hip Hop and Pop, taking inspiration more from music stars in the form of sequin dresses, colorful athleisure pieces, wild prints, and outrageous colors.
Without Rock and Roll, many genres of music would never have emerged, such as: garage rock, pop rock, blues rock, and psychedelic rock. Although rock no longer rules popular music, the styles of the 1960’s still appeal to the ears of those born long after. The utopian frenzy of rock defined the music of that era, and to this day continues to structure the music we call Rock and Roll
Rock is the art of protest; it is through it how we get to know society. During time, the way music is done has changed but we are sure that the essence will last.
