I am happy to join with you today, as the Senator of the Hoosier state that is Indiana, in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for patriotism in the history of our nation. It is as if that a mere third of a century ago, we were not a nation, we were not united, we ran by tyranny, the British fed on our fear. Not today, now we have a nation, one day we will have a country from sea to sea. And that can be complete if we Americans do one thing. Fight the Mexicans for that land. If you think in this sense of our freedom from the horrid nation of Britain. Imagine, you as an American having land farther than your eyes can see with a telescope. Instead of using meaningless bicker to our neighboring country of Mexico. America
Sidoonie smith and Julia Watson rhetorical situation, is that “people tell stories of their lives through the cultural scripts available to them”. Another situation is the fact people have a discursive practice of how they control the stories they tell about themselves. I agree with the message of this clip, which is to be cautious when looking for love and be certain that a deep and meaningful connection is present prior to engaging in intercourse with another. I think this is important because we live in a world that is over sexualized and as a result teaches our youth the wrong messages and leaves women feeling that they must seduce a man in order to entice and keep a man. In my opinion, Pastor Paul quoted two of the most profound statements which was King Solomon 's quote "Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires" this was a crucial message because it was directed at women who throughout history have had a tendency to seek love and in many cases try to force love when it is non-existent. Too many women today confuse intercourse with love and they end up with their hearts broken because they believed that a physical relationship would heighten their emotional
Now as I’ve been agreeing with all the test’s results and their meanings behind them, there is something that Ms. Kendra Cherry speaks of that I don’t agree with, and that is some of her career choices for ISFJ people. Now she does gives an examples of some that are good choices such as a bookkeeper, banker, and an accountant, she thinks that some of the best career choices for people with the personality type are social worker, counselor, teacher, etc. The reason why I disagree with her choices is that I feel that her choices don’t go well with people who have the ISFJ type of personality. Knowing what it means to be a ISFJ, you would know by now that people who have this type of personality are kinds of people who wouldn’t fit the mold of
You've likely seen celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels putting people through rigorous workouts to lose weight but when it comes to shedding pounds, Michaels says diet is more important than exercise. In fact, she says it's critical. "You can eat your way through any amount of exercise. There are those great little factoids online that put this in perspective. For example, 1 small fries is equivalent to 30 minutes on the treadmill.
Throughout our lives, we are faced with challenges that require us to persuade the trust and support of our peers and followers. Whether speaking or writing, we can earn this certitude through the manipulation of rhetorical strategies. In his speech, the Inquisitor evokes a cognitive, rational response through logos and conjures an emotional response through pathos while demonstrating his own reliability and competence through ethos. In order to provide his message with consistency and clarity, the Inquisitor adds logic to his reasoning regarding Joan of Arc's fate. He warns the audience that Joan will rightfully suffer the most cruel and just punishment that the men of the court have ever seen due to her mindless treason and disrespect
Good Morning Mr. Sale, I know that you are working to find a good niche for me, but I thought it might be useful to put in writing some ways that I think can serve the students of Swain County. AP USH. I would like to continue teaching AP for a few more years until I can mentor someone to take over the program. I believe that AP provides a valuable opportunity for our students to learn academic skills that will help them succeed in college, but more importantly, I think it helps them hone their “grit” skills. They often realize they can achieve more than they ever thought possible.
This is exactly what the colonists fought for. Their struggle was not for naught as they later gained their independence and created a nation to be proud of. America is a nation built on patriotism that roots from the very beginning. Patriotism is modernly demonstrated by the honoring of our veterans. Year-round Americans honor the veterans who have fought to make the country an overall safer place.
Patriots Pen. America's Gift To My Generation America’s gift to my generation is being the best country in the world. This is because of how hard we have fought for our freedom and what we want. I personally take a lot of pride in my country and I am very thankful that I get to live in a place where I have the freedom to worship, protest, and remain peaceful. I will always be appreciative of this gift because of how others have defended their cause even though there could be consequences.
A restaurant worker’s work is never complete: many restaurant workers feel that they are public servants because they make harsh comparisons, generalizations and arguments. Barbara Ehrenreich’s piece titled “Serving in Florida” represents the condition in which workers are treated while working in a restaurant. Ehrenreich describes this condition as unfair because she must perform duties as if they are “strictly theatrical exercises” (130). By this she means that even if there is no work left to do, the managers do not want to see workers sitting. Ehrenreich believes that she is performing in a play while she is at work because she must pretend to be doing work at all times so that the managers, who sit around, don’t yell.
Taylor Scuorzo d Rhetorical Analysis 3/20/23 Rhetorical Analysis Doing benevolent and selfless things for others can occasionally lead to adverse results. In his enlightening and illuminating commencement address given at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on May 19, 2018, Jason Reynolds emotionally persuades and informs the graduates at the college through the use of anecdotes and metaphors to show that ignoring the significant problems of the world will not help us fix them. To strengthen his speech, Reynolds uses past personal experiences and the comparison of objects to others to help prove the theme portrayed throughout the speech.
Past leaders such as Andrew Jackson, Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, and Marc Antony are evidence that society does not reward morality and good character in leadership. Society is drawn to leaders that have good rhetoric, propaganda, and charismatic personalities, and society supports them despite their immorality. Society is concerned about stability more than the morality of their leaders and will support immoral leaders in times of crisis to provide stability. In history there have been multiple leaders that have used rhetoric, propaganda and charismatic personalities to gain power, despite their morals.
I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me ~Greenwood. So often, natural-born Americans sing about patriotism and appreciation for the freedoms they have received from birth. When in reality they are not aware of how their life would be without said freedoms. Immigrants, on the other hand, have experienced the lack of rights, and therefore value American freedoms greater.
