The Council of Trent was the turning point for the Catholic Church. The Church was able to change because when the church changed the Catholic people were more expanding towards other countries in overseas . However, there wasn’t too much of a change because all the people who belonged to the Catholic Church did not change the point of view of how they look upon God. Martin Luther was said to begin the Protestant Reformation after he wrote his “95 Theses.” This book explained Martin’s beliefs that the Bible is the center of religious authority, and that humans can achieve Heaven if through their faith, disregarding the good or bad deeds they have done in the past. The church on the other had, was getting too involved in politics and losing its focus on religion and faith. The combination of political manipulations and the rising of church power and wealth lead to a drastic downfall in the church. This lead to the vulnerability of church leaders and caused them to make poor decisions.

The Pope and the Priest were corrupt and brutal. They neglected their people and took an intense interest in politics. In response to the Protestant Reformation, between the years of 1545-1563, the people of Trent constructed a council known as the Council of Trent. The main, intended purpose of the Council of Trent was to influence Protestants to return to the Catholic Church.
