Over the years, Disney has become a household name. Disney is known for producing family friendly movies. Disney released a movie called Fantasia in its earlier days, when they were first experimenting with setting classical music to a storyline. Fantasia movie featured music from some of the best composers of all time: Ludwig van Beethoven, Leopold Stokowski, Franz Schubert, and Igor Stravinsky. One of the featured composers, Igor Stravinsky, gained notoriety through his ability to change the way he wrote his music. He became an influence on a variety of modern-day composers that included: Edgar Varèse, Pierre Boulez, and Béla Bartók. Stravinsky was born on June 17, 1882 in Lomonosov, Russia and died on April 6, 1971 in New York City, New York. He grew up in musical household. His father was a bass in the Imperial Opera in St. Petersburg Russia, while his mother was a successful pianist and singer. According to The Cambridge Companion to Stravinsky, Stravinsky’s father, Fyodor Stravinsky, was not only known for his voice, but as having one of the largest private collections of valuable books and musical scores in Russia, and the painstaking was he prepared for his roles. This exposure to music and theatre from a very early age, and played a major role in the development of Stravinsky’s passion for music. His mother, on the other hand did not become as successful as his father. According to Stravinsky: A Family Chronicle, Stravinsky’s mother, Anna Kyrillovna, she possessed a mezzo-soprano voice, but chose to only use it for pleasure. His mother also had a talent for piano, and taught her son, Igor, how to play. In his autobiography, Igor Stravinsky even states,
