E SONG “I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU”, AS SUNG BY DOLLY PARTON AND WHITNEY HOUSTON The song “I Will Always Love You” is one of the most iconic songs of the 21st Century. This song has been widely covered by professional artists and cover singers until today. However, two of the most iconic renditions have to be from Dolly Parton and Whitney Houston. If I were to compare these two renditions, I would prefer Whitney Houston’s version of the song. Dolly Parton was actually the original writer and singer of the song, “I Will Always Love You’. Written in the year 1974, Dolly Parton wrote this song to express her desire to leave the Porter Wagoner Television Show. Dolly Parton had already completed her 5-year contract with Porter Wagoner and was already in her 7th year with him. Porter Wagoner could not understand her intentions and was against the idea of her leaving the show. Dolly then wrote this song as she was determined to leave the show. She wrote this song to express her gratitude and love for Wagoner. She wanted to thank him for everything he did for her. She also wanted to express her love for him and to let him know that even though she is leaving his show, she will always love him. Whitney Houston on the other hand, has an entirely different story. In 1975, Whitney was playing the lead female role for the film “The Bodyguard”. She was not only the lead actress, but also the singer for the film’s official soundtrack. Whitney was meant to sing another song but that particular

This song shows a young girl who is portrayed as having a dorky nerdy look. Also, it shows a girl that is opposite of her, who is a pretty brunette known by the highschool kids. The “nerdy” girl is in love with a football player, who she believes will never have a chance with, because he is with another girl. “Taylor swift” has a crush on a boy who is blind to see that she really loved her and not the girl he is with who is portrayed as a “popular” Brunette. This is an important aspect to Taylor Swift because she is known to sing love stories that she hears about or experience herself.

Instead of fixing problems, they use the Bible and their religion as a weapon against Richard’s well being. This song would be played during the event when Addie argues with Richard after causing Granny to
Still early on in Dolly's career, failing and succeeding, she never gave up hope and continued pursuing her dream of singing and songwriting, and almost 60 years later she's one of America's top country music stars. Dolly went through being sexualized and took the trauma and fear and turned the song Joleen into a joy for all of her fans to listen to, even though her meaning for the song was to spread awareness. The ’60s were not a good time for female country singers.
