Due to lack or inadequate training, it is difficult for law enforcement officers to identify a human trafficking case thus hard to investigate the suspected trafficking case. According to research most of the law enforcement agencies hardly realized the acts of human trafficking and most of them had officials who could not handle such situations due to lack of training. This inadequacy cultivated the growth of such an act to a higher level such that by the time they realized its impact, it was almost too late. In the interview, the coordinator admits that the department not only trains all their recruits on human trafficking but also goes to the extent of offering the training to other law enforcement department when they request them to do so. Through this the, US ensure that besides having enough law enforcement officers capable of handling human trafficking, the officers train through identifying such crimes and improved methods of investigating human trafficking cases.

Theresa Flores’s “The Slave Across the Street,” is a personal anecdote whose main purpose is to make Americans aware of the reality of human trafficking being in the U.S. and in our neighborhoods. The book shows how even in seemingly good life situations, traffickers are able to pick out and victimize those that are vulnerable. This does not only happen in third world countries, or in inner city, low income housing. Human trafficking is apparent throughout the U.S., in all levels of socio-economic classes. By Flores telling her story, she achieves the purpose in showing a different side of human trafficking that most people do not realize it has.

Furthermore, exploited individuals may be subjected to a wide range of trauma- specific counseling that is aimed at helping victims rebuild their self-esteem, regain empowerment and reconnection with themselves and society. Health care professionals also states that victims must be offered very sensitive outreach with allows them to gain helpful access to mental health services, safe houses and other helpful tools that will assist them in developing their reforming skills to get back in touch with themselves again (Ross, Dimitrova, Howard, Dewey, Zimmerman & Oram, 2015). Most survivors do regain their psychological well-being and heal physically with the assistance and access to much needed resources or assistance from for victims. Additionally, the various needs of victims of human trafficking can create and provide extensive challenges for health care providers trying to assist and help victims with collaborative services.

Human trafficking is the fastest growing crime in the entire world and is considered modern day slavery. Almost 80% of trafficking is through sexual exploitation, which means that it primarily affects women and girls (UNODC, 2009). Victims are often tricked into the business through promise of work or a better life and sometimes just randomly stolen right from their homes. However, this is not just an issue overseas. Michigan is listed as the state with the second highest rates of human trafficking.

Thesis Statement A. What I hope to aim for my audience is too see what these young girls went through and how they are lured into this not willing wanting to go. I went through and listen to lots of stories of woman who were taken when younger and how they were enslaved by these men who mentally controlled their thoughts. When I read about poor stories from overseas how parents where so desperate for money they sell their children it was heartbreaking, but those two young ladies today Keiu and Sara are now working with a group home building a future and hoping to help other victims. The purpose to give the audience a better understanding what human trafficking is and how it’s going on in our neighborhoods.

By taking steps forward as a society we can have a great impact on that battle. We must, before anything else, make people aware of human trafficking and the devastating toll it takes on its victims. By increasing public awareness, individuals can begin to identify cues that people might be sufferers of human trafficking. After identifying a victim, proper authorities can be notified. Second, Oklahoma legislature must do more to combat this crime.

The group of people who do not have the rights that every human should be guaranteed or the power to put an end to their hardships is continuously rising. A few of the basic necessities of life are being denied to this group. From being tricked into leaving their families for false promises of a better life, to being forced to live in a run-down community, these people do not even have the resources to improve their lives or the ability to leave the situation they are in. Even though their situations are different, they still go through the same struggles and are forced to live in harsh conditions due to a lack of power and a lack of interest from those who do have the authority to make a change. Normally, trafficking is done by threat, compulsion, abduction, fraud, misleading, abuse of power, vulnerability, giving payments or benefits to a person in control of the victim .Trafficking in person is a serious crime and dignified violation of human rights . Most of people nowadays do not know that human slavery still exists; after it was abolished 150 years ago, its proven when there is an auction of young women intended for sexual slavery occurred publicly in Britain highly policed location and another auction even took place in front of a café at Greenwich Airport, Britain (News by BBC UK, 4 June 2006, 14.31 GMT). These crimes have been booming and become a global phenomenon when victims from at least 153 countries were detected in 124 countries worldwide between 2010 and 2012.

For some, freedom is not given. For some, freedom is how things are in which a common situation in everyday life. Realize it or not, human trafficking is still happening today. For every 30 seconds, another person becomes a victim of the trafficking industry. Today, according to ILO research, not only there are more than 21 million people being trafficked worldwide but also an illegal annual profits that may exceeds USD $150 billion, in such a way making trafficking industry as the second largest black market industry in the world.
