The book The Hunger Games By: Suzanne Collins is about an 16 year old girl named Katniss Everdeen. Katniss cares a lot about her little sister Prim. Katniss has a best friends who she’s known since she was 12 his name is Gale. When the book starts its on the day of the reaping. The Hunger Games is a thing in the Capitol were 2 people from each District a boy and girl get picked to fight to the death. In District 12 Prim gets picked for the girl but Katniss volunteers as tribute for her little sister. The who got picked was Peeta Mellark. For my character I picked Katniss and for my theme I picked survival. My first character trait I picked was resourceful because Katniss is very resourceful with the things that she does to survive. “I mash up a handful of berries so the taste won’t be as noticeable and add some mint leaves for good measure.” (p. 277) The reason why picked this resourceful was because so that Peeta could live. She got sleeping medicine to put Peeta to sleep so she could go to the feast. So she mixed stuff together so that he couldn’t taste it. Katniss is also very resourceful with things because she use things around her to get her through the games. …show more content…
I picked clever because Katniss is just very clever with things like getting around and hiding in trees. “And just as the knife cuts through, I shove the end of the branch as far away from me as I can. It crashes down through the lower branches, snagging temporarily on a few but then twisting free until it smashes with a thud on the ground. The nest bursts open like an egg, and a furious swarm of tracker jackers takes to the air.” (p. 190) I picked this to say she was clever and able to survive and get away from the tributes was because since Katniss did this she was able to escape from the Career Tributes and survive. Katniss was clever to do this because when she did it she killed 2
When friends work together as a team, there's a better chance to survive. The main character, Katniss Everdeen, is facing an unforgettable problem throughout the hunger games. One of the problems they face they have to kill people to survive. Looking out for others is teamwork because part of team work is working together. Katniss Everdeen has to meet up with her partner Peeta Mellark to search and form an alliance.
Before even beginning to write this essay, The Hunger Games and the character Katniss were the first things to pop into my mind while discussing The Hero’s
Katniss’s father died in a mine explosion; however, before he died he was teaching Katniss how to shoot a bow and a arrow. Katniss is now using this skill to hunt in the woods (which is forbidden and you can be punished by death) to supply for her family. This shows that Katniss is very brave. Katniss loves her sister Prim every much, in fact so much that Prim was chosen to go play in the annual Hunger Games to represent District 12 and Katniss was so brave and bold she volunteered herself because she knew Prim would not survive a second in the Hungers Games.
But their common ability of survival stepped in and helped them get through hard times. Their main strength is their ability to adapt to their surroundings and that can be a huge advantage to others. This is only one of many similarities these characters share that plays such a big role in their road to success. We’ll first talk about the differences between these two female warriors. First of all, Katniss and Tris share a completely
Hidden Traits Throughout the novel, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, there are is a wide variety of different themes presented, but some are more prominent than others. One of the controlling ideas in the book was: when people are faced with the threat of death and tragedy it causes their strongest to traits to surface, and their true character immerges. Mrs. Collins does a great job of projecting these morals through the protagonist of the story, Katniss Everdeen. Katniss gradually reveals her hidden strength and defiance as the story progresses.
Friendship: When going into a war, it’s very good to have good friends to rely on; they watch your back, and when things get bad, they give you a reason not to give up and to keep on fighting. She helps all her friends to make them alive. 10. Symbols: Crazy Cat appears briefly, for only a couple of pages, but it's still an effective symbol in Mockingjay. Crazy Cat is a hard game that Katniss plays with her family's cat named Buttercupp.
Katniss shows this by climbing a tree since she knows that the Careers are too heavy and lacks practice climbing. ’’Why don’t you come on up’’?(Pg 182) She used this to her advantage by cutting a tracker jacker(wasp) nest on the Careers while they are asleep. This was considered clever because she took down a Career, and the girl tribute from District 4. Also, she created a plan to destroy the Careers supplies in the cornucopia.
She is also friendly and has a strong bond with her childhood friend Gale. She comes from the poorest district in Panem. That’s the reason she’s mostly poorly dressed. She is courageous and looks after her mother and sister, and later the little tribute girl, Rue. Katniss is strong and can be tough, although she is at times shy.
Katniss feels as if her freedom is being taken away and her ego is not important. She will do whatever it takes to bring back that feeling of self
Katniss had to be responsible for keeping her family and friends safe and alive, but she also had to take care of herself. In chapter eleven the Hunger Games had began and Katniss left behind the bow that was supposed to “belong to her”. She knew that there was no way she could have survived without it, but she also knew that it was her fault and she had to survive without it. In Chapter 13 Katniss was being “chased” by a fire and fire balls were being thrown at her. She got severely burned and couldn’t do much at all so she had to fix her own leg because there was no one else to help her.
The theme of the dystopian novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is survival. Katniss Everdeen is the epitome of this theme; her disposition luckily possesses all of the attributes needed to survive. Katniss displays the theme of survival because she is resourceful, has integrity, and has perseverance. One trait of Katniss's that helps project the story's theme of survival is her resourcefulness.
During the hunger game, Katniss had done way more things that shows her courage for example, save the boy from his own tribute, get medicine pack for him, take care of Rue and eat poison food with his companion to end the crucial game... In the whole hunger game, Katness always try her best to every challenge. To make the essay easier to understand, I am going to analyze Katness’ behavior of rescuing her companion. Like Katness's advisor had indicated," when you are in the middle of the game and you are starving or freezing, some water, a knife or even some matches can mean the difference between life and death". Everything is precious during the competition.
On the other hand, there is Capitol who has political control in the nation of panem. The story starts when each district must offer a male and female between the ages of 12-18 at a public reaping as a penance for their uprising. The tributes which are male and female shall be delivered to the Capitol and then transferred to a public arena where they will fight with other district until a lone victor remains. This tradition called the hunger games. The story centers was coming from poor district 12 where Katniss and Peeta as their tributes.
Katniss learns how to be more selfless and not let coming from district 12 define who she is and what she can do. Katniss is a strong, force, and selfless charter who the readers can see a little bit of themselves in her as she develops through the story. The readers also strive to be a little bit more like Katniss everyday because she has the strength and willpower to complete any task that she puts her mind too. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is an amazing book for readers of all
