Racism helps jem and scout by making them a better person in life and because they know that racism is bad and just like their dad atticus taught them and eventually they will teach their ids the same thing same after many generations maybe society will think the same way and racism might not be as powerful and strong as it was in the 1930s. Even within Lee’s use of prejudice as a tool for characterization, there is a substantial difference in the way she uses it on Scout and Mr Ewell. Lee uses it much a fine brush on Scout, using it to add small details and different shades to her, while it form the backbone of Mr Ewell’s character. In Scout prejudice is expressed through such quotes as “Well Dill, after all he’s just a Negro,” on page 199. In this quote, the reader see that Scout isn’t the angel that is previously thought, and that even though she is far more progressive than many in the town, the racism in Maycomb is incredibly pervasive and oppressive. They can still corrupt Scout’s young mind, even with Atticus’ best attempts to stop it.
Prejudice means preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience. One prejudice thing is how they say that Atticus don’t like guns, but somehow he the best shooter in Maycomb. The kid’s at Scout school were prejudice against her father calling him a “nigger lover.” Then Scout became prejudice against Atticus because she found out that he was protecting a negro. Scout also thought that Atticus didn’t do anything as an old man, she thought Atticus was lame and that he older than most of the parents.
Disease of Prejudice Maycomb 's usual desease is the desease of prejudice. Prejudice can be defined in many ways, one definition is law verb: Harm or injury that result or may result from some action or judgment. Another is verb law: Cause harm to (a state of affairs), with these definitions I would say the noun makes perfect since because everyone is racist (judgement of color). In this state of confusion of the case black verse white Atticus hope 's that Jem and Scout never turn out to have Mayconmb 's usual desease of prejudice. As Mayconmb is full of prejudice against African Americans the case has made life for Atticus, Jem, and Scout a little more observant.

Scout has grown up behaving how she wants to and doing what she pleases.
Written in the Southern Gothic style, Harper Lee’s bildungsroman novel To Kill a Mockingbird (TKAM) draws attention to the themes of injustice, innocence versus prejudice and moral decay. TKAM explores various forms of stereotypical assumptions, flaws within the American judicial system, and the superiority complex embedded in people. These properties contribute to a single outcome—a decadent social system where prejudice dominates. The snowman, the bluejays and Tim Johnson are symbols of prejudice within Maycomb, while the mockingbird serves in the capacity of a metaphor for the vulnerability of innocence.
Throughout history and throughout life racial prejudice has unfortunately been a thing for centuries. It is an unfortunate thing and can be shown and represented in different ways in many different forms, in the story To Kill a Mockingbird is one of them. Racial Prejudice was something that was not good, people would make decisions on people by looking at their face and their skin tone rather than the actual people. The story To Kill a Mockingbird depicts a family that lives in a small, mainly all white town where we see the two children Jem and Scout and their father Atticus and within the story of these two children we see the racial prejudice that surrounds them. In the book To Kill a Mockingbird the author Harper Lee uses the theme racial prejudice by showing a clear definition of the characters using slurs towards black people, how the people of Maycomb felt towards Tom Robinson and how the people in the town talk and see black people.
Characterization of Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses Jean Louise (Scout) Finch as the narrator. Scout is now an adult and reflects on three very crucial summers during her childhood days. All of these things show that she is childish at the beginning of the novel.
Why is the mockingbird rarely mentioned in the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee when it is literally in the title? The mockingbird first appears in chapter 10, and throughout the book, Lee presented it only seven times in total(“Times Mockingbirds Are Mentioned”). However, it is an important representation of the message Lee wanted to convey: the mockingbird symbolizes victims of racism, injustices, and the immorality of society(Strom). Tom Robinson is the most noticeable mockingbird, a victim of racism(“To Kill a Mockingbird: Symbols”). He is persecuted for doing nothing but living his life.
