Killing Lennie was never something to cross George’s mind, but to keep Lennie from suffering that's exactly what he had to do. John Steinbeck, the author of Mice and Men, wanted to show the extreme difficulties that some loved ones may face in extreme situations, such as the situation between George and Lennie. George had to take care of Lennie on a daily basis and was always having to bail him out of problems that he caused for himself because of his mental state. These problems didn’t help George’s situation of trying to get enough money to get his own land because he was always having to leave good jobs because of Lennie. Before Lennie made the worst mistake and sealed his fate, George and Lennie were doing well at their new job. They were …show more content…
George took on the responsibilities of taking care of Lennie after Lennie's aunt passed away. There was no one else who would have done this for Lennie. Lennie has followed George anywhere he goes for a long time. George had helped Lennie a lot along their journey. He had gotten them jobs being ranch hands, which Lennie always ended up screwing up. Lennie had a problem with his mental state which caused him to always want to touch soft things like animals and soft fabrics. Lennie and George were working in Weed until that got ruined by Lennie. One day Lennie grabbed ahold of a girls dress because it was soft. He didn’t think he was doing wrong but in reality it looked like he was trying to rip the girls dress off. That incident caused the two boys to have to flee away from Weed and find new jobs …show more content…
George had in his mind that he was going to buy land and have a house and a garden and also have farm animals. Lennie knows about this so George always tells him about it and how Lennie can tend the rabbits as long as he doesn’t screw up again, Which we soon find out, he screws up badly. George and Lennie soon find another job being ranch hands. They meet a lot of new people and George starts becoming friends with some of them. From the start of working there though, George and Lennie start having problems with the boss's son, Curley. Curley is a small man but he acts big and tough. One day in the bunkhouse Curley gets mad at some of the guys and they start talking back to him. Lennie is in the corner laughing and Curley thinks Lennie is laughing at him so he starts hitting Lennie. Lennie doesn’t fight back till George tells him to so Lennie grabs Curley’s hand and breaks it. To keep Lennie and George from being fired and to keep Curley’s look up they decided to say that his hand got caught in a machine. After that event things really started going
Euthanasia is translated from the Greek language as "good death" or "easy death”, but murder is not good nor easy. Lennie was a mentally disabled man who accidentally killed the wife of Curley, the boss’s son. Curley sought revenge and threatened to kill Lennie. George took it upon himself to shoot Lennie because he felt that Lennie would be put to death by torture and suffering. In the book Of Mice and Men, George did not make the right decision of killing Lennie because he had know way of knowing Lennie's true fate, Lennie did not wish to die, and shooting someone is still murder.
In the book “Of Mice and Men” there are two main characters, Lennie and George. Lennie is dumb while George is average intelligence and likes to think ahead. Lennie is so dumb that he gets in these stupid situations, whether it be killing someone by shaking his hand too hard, or touching a dress and the girl calls it rape. Lennie can not live a normal life, he would be unhappy to never get his dream or what he wants. George killing Lennie seemed like the right thing to do.
In the book “Mice and Men” the two main characters George and Lennie were faced with many challenges and decisions. The one decisions everyone is talking about it when George Choose to Shoot Lennie. Some think this was a wrong decision and some think it was the right decision. I personally think that is wasn't a smart decision for George to shoot Lennie. One reason I believe that it was a bad reason for George to kill Lennie is that they had the chance for the other men such as Slim to just turn him into the law.
In Steinbek’s work, George killed Lennie for his own selfish reasons. Some people would argue that George killed him for Lennie’s own sake and that he was just trying to help everyone. George murdered Lennie for the exact reason that he could not take care of him anymore. Although this may be true, Lennie was becoming a danger to himself and anyone around him, if he continued living then he would just keep on killing until, eventually, he would kill himself.
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck The book is about Lennie and George running away from Weed and working in another Ranch in California. The two of them dream about getting their own ranch and being able to make the rules and become happy for the rest of their lives. However, Lennie is a strong character who is very uneducated and gets him and George into lots of trouble. Lennie often makes mistakes that cause consequences that hurt him.
George is justified for killing Lennie because Lennie was dangerous and condemned to a painful death. Throughout the novel, Lennie kills animals. Lennie had a mouse that ended up dead because Lennie accidently grab the mouse too hard. Lennie countie to pet the mouse like it was still alive.
He is, in a way, Lennie’s caretaker. It is quite obvious that George resents having Lennie by his side, and mentions it quite often in the book, yet still continues working with him. George is small and lanky compared to Lennie. The story he created of the ranch that he and Lennie will have in the future keeps Lennie’s hopes up, which helps George believe in
George is a cunning leader who plans ahead in his devotion to Lennie and to his goal in life. When George and Lennie finally arrive at the ranch to meet
From the day that Lennie’s Aunt Clara died and from the day George took Lennie in as a friend George was always there for him. If Lennie did not have George, Lennie would have no one to protect him and save him from all of the bad things that he has done. Despite all of the dangers and problems Lennie got George and himself into, George benefited and also learned from Lennie’s mistakes. George needs his ignorant sidekick as much as Lennie needs George.
We all may have had the feeling of loneliness and isolation, wanting companionship feeling abandonment. In John Steinbeck’s novella, Of Mice and Men, there are men living on a ranch having their own reasons for loneliness or being isolated. The three characters Crooks, George, and Lennie crusade dealing with own ways of loneliness and isolation. Crooks has no one that likes him because he’s black, Lennie struggles mentally and George struggles with always having to care for him. They all can’t decide whether it is that they want to be alone or not.
Have you ever thought of killing your best friend? No, no one does, that person is supposed to be your everything. In Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, a main character gets killed by his best friend. George had no reason to kill Lennie. Lennie did not mean to kill them on purpose.
Lennie with his simple mind, always gets into trouble. This time, Lennie gets himself in a bind once again, that George can’t save him from. George decision to kill Lennie in the story, was due to his responsibility, sympathy, and love for Lennie. George’s decision to kill Lennie was out of sympathy for him.
In Chapter 1 George brings up the incident that has happened in Weed to the absent minded Lennie giving information to the reader stating “Jus’ wanted to feel that girl’s dress - jus’ wanted to pet it like a mouse…”. This gives basic information the Lennie may have a strong compulsion to soft materials, but in looking further into what George says is give a key point to an event that will happen in the future. George explains that Lennie has a possible problem with things being wild or making loud noise like when the girl screams Lennie clings to her like she is a mouse trying to squander her from moving and further and making more of a commotion. This is a relevant key that leads to the death of Lennie’s puppy. Whilst Lennie plays with the puppy it creates a quick and sudden motion as if the puppy was about to bite Lennie.
In the novella, Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, George’s decision to kill Lennie at the end of the novel was justified. George and Lennie were best friends, and have been since they were little. They got ran out of Weed(the old farm they used to work at) for harassing a girl and not letting her go. He was just scared from her screaming and kicking. He didn’t mean to harm, or scare her.
so George and Lennie had met since George was getting to know Lennie's, Aunt Clara She was a woman that would take most of her time to take care of Lennie since he was not well in the head, he would act like a child even though he was already a grown man. She had died so George decides to become his guardian since he could be by himself since he would always act like a child. There were a lot of benefits that they had for traveling together they won't be lonely and would have some company and he would have someone to talk to. Let's just say that he had decided to not be his guardian George would be so lonely he wouldn't have anyone to talk to when he is traveling.
