Creating a utopian is the hardest thing ever in the novel animal farm, Power, losses and lies and deception is one of the largest reasons why they cannot create one. In the factor of losses animal farm was hit pretty hard they lost a few comrades, lost friends and the way they were treated. In the attempt of creating a utopian society several characters gave up, died or were kicked out. Snowball was kicked out of the farm because of Napoleon, Snowball had given an idea to create a windmill which was astonishing idea however Napoleon began to think Snowball might be smarter than him and can therefore takeover the farm. So Napoleon decides to blame Snowball for the destruction of the windmill which in the end got her kicked
The farm fails because of the pigs not being fair to the other animals, plus the animals being too dumb to realize it. The other animals made mistakes, by not speaking up when they thought something was wrong. Animal Farm starts to fail because pigs start to make power grabs that screws the “perfect life” vision the animals have. These reasons, including many more, are why Animal Farm fails. One reason Animal Farm fails, is because of power grabs by animals.
All utopias are different. People have different concepts of utopias and they can be good or bad depending on their ideas. The examples of utopian societies that we read in class, like the well- known novel Animal Farm, and the lesser known short stories “The Most Dangerous Game” and “Harrison Bergeron” were all different examples of utopias, but none of them sounded fair or humane. One was murder, one was a twisted concept of equality and the other was taking advantage of blunt mindedness. In Animal Farm the leader Napoleon convinces the other animals to turn on the humans.
The Extinguished Hope Imagine a single, lonely flame. Its vitality, its survival, depends on you. Now imagine the emotional commitment you have set forth to preserve this oscillating light, this sliver of hope. Now imagine that it wisps out of existence, from one moment to another.
All humans strive for a Utopian world, but sadly, a utopia will never exist. A utopia is a world where everything is perfect, and everyone is equal. However pleasant the thought is, the reality is impossible. George Orwell and Ayn Rand show this through Animal Farm and Anthem. Animal Farm is a set on Manor Farm in England in the 1900s.
3) In a command economy the government sets the production, distribution and prices. Command economies are typically part of communist societies or also run by dictators which can be seen in Cuba, former Soviet Union, and North Korea (Investopedia.com). Although in an attempt to distribute products equally, due to the inability for Command economies to predict market wants shortages happen often. In comparison to a Free Market society the production and distribution is controlled by the consumers so producers are more educated on the wants and needs of the market.
Thesis Statement: Dictators Create decisions for what can be said and done. The animals in the novel Animal Farm had created a set of commandments that all the animals had to follow, then one day the group Napoleon and the other pigs broke the fourth commandment by sleeping in beds, the Animals on the farm read the commandment and it decreed “No animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets” (Orwell 67). The quote supports the thesis for the reason that Napoleon has changed the rules so that he is not breaking them, so that the other animals will not be tempted to confiscate Napoleon's power. The statement supports the quote because Napoleon decision to change the fourth commandment. Napoleon changes the fourth commandment without the vote of the other animals which leaves the animals no choice but to go along with the change for the reason that the animals have been brain washed.
Stalin, the leader of the Communist army in Russia and the most powerful man in the past uses violence to the ones that go against him. He has a style of dictatorship where many people suffer. Gunshots going across, people dying out, outcry, burst in tears with bruises all over the body, killing in harsh condition all occurs during Russian Revolution. The historical background of George Orwell’s Animal Farm is also the Russian Revolution. In the book, Napoleon uses dictatorship to order other animals, uses accuration, and give harsh punishment who block his way.
A utopia is beautiful and peaceful place or state which is perfect for everybody. What is a utopia for animals? According to the animals in Animal Farm, it is a place where there are no cruel humans killing and using them for their selfish needs. A revolution is the overthrow of a ruler or a system, which results in dramatic changes in society. The rebellion spurred by Old Major results in the overthrow of Mr. Jones, but does it make everything better?
The government told the human race that nothing is wrong, it was just the citizens’ fear of the worst. So people did not worry about their lack of food or unsafe working conditions because they had no reason to distrust the government. They never realized that their idea of a utopia slowly slipped through their grasp. Rather than maintaining utter perfection in respect of laws, politics, customs, and conditions, the government remained in oppressive societal control; everything appeared ideal, but once examined closer, the true horrors came to light.

Jaewon Shim Ms. Manning English 9B 06 February 2015 Animal Farm Analytical Essay "Orwellian" is an adjective that describes the condition of the society that George Orwell identified as being destructive to the welfare of a free and open society. The adjective suggests an attitude that is controlled by propaganda, the denial of truth, and manipulation of the past. In George Orwell’s novel, Animal Farm, George Orwell develops his ideas about the Russian Revolution through a highly satirical story written in the form of a fable. The characters represent actual people in history during the Russian Revolution, which took place in the years between 1917 to 1944, as it talks about a story of a farm rebelling against a human owner and establishes their own way of running the farm, which was effected by Old Major’s speech who talked about a society where all workers led the society, with no actual leader. However, imbalance of power occur as the pigs, who are the smartest of the animals gain influence by supervising other animals to work.
Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels express their major critiques and opinions on capitalism in their 1848 publication of The Communist Manifesto. Their critiques are based around the idea that capitalism is simply unfair, meaning that one class benefits significantly more than the rest. The class that benefits least from capitalism is the proletariats. This unintelligent labor class suffers from the capitalists dominance, and is unaware of the damage they are experiencing. George Orwell’s depiction of Boxer in his novel, Animal Farm, fits precisely into Marx and Engels’ negative critique of capitalism by representing a strong symbol for the proletariat class and succumbing to the powerful demands of the capitalists.
Utopia to Dystopia: The Collapse of Animal Farm The attempt at creating a utopian society led the animals closer to a dystopia. The novel Animal Farm demonstrates that a fantasy paradise is unattainable and is parallel to the attempt of the Soviet Union. As leaders, the pigs paraphrased the rules, and made themselves as superior to the working class of animals. Not all the animals acknowledge the idea of a farm governed by animals and disregard the rules.
Revolutions are fundamentally unavoidable when democracy fails to exist. Revolutions occur when people feel unjust and mistreated. In Animal Farm, George Orwell writes of a revolution by farm animals against their human leader, Jones. The lack of a democracy and harsh inequality is the root cause of this revolution. In December of 2010 large uprisings and revolutions started around the Middle East and Northern Africa known as Arab Spring.
The contrast to this perfect society is a dystopian society. Dystopian societies are marked with fear and have little to no chance of improvement. Animal Farm, an allegorical novel by George Orwell, includes a dystopian society. The novel takes place on a rural farm known as, Animal Farm, which is a dystopian society alluding to Soviet Russia. Although Animal Farm is portrayed as the perfect utopia, the animals living on the farm cannot create individual thoughts because of the way they are controlled by propaganda, characterizing Animal Farm as a dystopian society due to these traits.
