World War One led to many changes in the U.S and the world itself, but what affects did it have on the domestic issues of America such as segregation and unjust treatment of African Americans, and women 's suffrage. While greatly affecting domestic issues, World War One led to large changes in the demographics because of migration of african americans from southern states because of oppressive laws and racial prejudice to the northern states. It also changed the roles of African Americans and women on society, and led to women 's right to vote, Being a time of such large impact one might never think of what was happening here in America during World War One but in reality it was a time of much change in America. African Americans roles were beginning to change in society because during World War One from 1914 and 1920, roughly 500,000 black southerners packed their bags and headed to the North, fundamentally transforming the social, cultural, and political landscape of cities such as Chicago, New York, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Detroit. African Americans deeply wanted the same respect as whites and fair treatment, some men would risk their own lives to get respect. A lot of African Americans decided to sign up to go to war to gain respect for defending our country and its people. Surprisingly this failed to gain the respect African Americans were looking for. Some men claimed that the white soldiers were racist and that black soldiers were treated poorly and many were sent to fight the french army and said the french were much more equal and fair. Although these events did not attain the intended reactions African Americans wanted it 's still set many precedents and showed that African Americans could fight just as hard as white

Long ago, African American people were sold to be slaves. They struggle for freedom and have to listen to the owner, or the white people and listen to their commands. The owner or the white people doesn't care much about them and making them work hard non stop. But, people began to stand up and fought for the African American people. A civil war even happened to decide whether to keep slaves or not.
The need for rights during this time continued and the understanding and willingness to organize civil rights for them continued to be a slow and unaffected change for this minority. African Americans had an extremely pivotal role in the outcome and consequences of the Civil War. This group of people were enslaved, and forced to work in horrible conditions, for the whole day, without pay. Slaves were one of the main causes of the Civil War. The issue of Slavery, which resulted in the eventual economic and social division between the North and South, caused the creation of the Confederate States. African Americans did not only unintentionally cause the war, but they also effected the outcome of the war, and the eventual consequences the nation would face after the war.
More than 200,000 African Americans were deployed to France during WW1. Their service stirred black pride and raised the African American community 's political and social expectations, even though it did little to improve race relations in the U.S. More of the country 's racial demographics changed considerably as a result of the war. New jobs in manufacturing and other industries, combined with a shortage of cheap European labor, translated into opportunities for African Americans in New York, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Chicago and other northern side cities. Drawn by the potential for better pay and living conditions, approximately half a million southern black agricultures moved north from 1914 to 1920 in what is known as the Great Migration.
during the civil rights movement there was a lot of chaos going on. People back then were treated differently due to segregation. The african american people tried fighting for their rights to have the same equality as the white people had. any african american tried making history by either going to an all white school or getting their rights to vote.
African Americans fought in the Civil War on the Union and Confederate side. Most of the slaves were free and run away slaves. The emancipation proclamation helped the slaves be free and get their citizenship. Black soldiers did not receive equal or treatment white soldiers made more money. In June 1864 Congress granted retroactive equal pay meaning blacks and whites made the same pay.
The Emancipation Proclamation was an important act, the Emancipation Proclamation was signed by President Abraham Lincoln, allowing the freedom of all in the rebelling territories of the confederacy and allowing Blacks to join in the Union Army. At the beginning of the Civil War, the freed black people was ready to fight with Union, yet they were prevented from doing so. Popular racial stereotypes and discrimination against Blacks in the military contributed to the prevailing myth that Black men did not have the intelligence and bravery necessary to serve their country. By 1862, there was limited amount of White Union enlistment and confederate victories at Antietam forced the U.S. government to reconsider its racist policy.
The War I believed resulted in employment greatly to the United States at home at the end of the depression. It also contributed to the growth of the federal government, causing the defence department expansion. For example, according to Henretta, it boosted military power and expenditures(758). United States military became an industrial complex in which the plants employed women called the Rosie Revita. They assembled airplanes, built rockets, bombs, munitions, and tanks.
Post Civil War, African Americans started to gain rights to gain rights, and soon gain rights equal to whites. While there were some people/things standing in their way (KKK, Black Codes), in the end they got what they needed; Equality. Many acts and laws were passed to aid the new rights now held by African Americans, as well as the numerous people willing to help. New Amendments were added to give African Americans rights after the war, all giving them some equal rights to whites. The first of the three added was the Thirteenth Amendment, it gave African Americans freedom from slave owners, and stated that no one could be kept as a slave in the U.S..
The African Americans had a big impact on the Civil War. They had to have all of these laws and papers wrote because of the slavery deal. They had the role of the debate for slavery. They were the slaves and they wanted to have their freedom. The Declaration of Independence said that, “All men are created equal”, but the slaves were not free.
Some things that changed were that women had gained the right to vote, women held more jobs, and the great migration. In 1919 women got the right to vote, because of the ¾ vote from states, women felt they had more of a say in society due to men being at war. The amendment said that the right to vote shall not be denied on the account of sex. During America’s time in WW1
WW1 is known as the first modern war because it saw the incorporation of mechanical weapons. The Central Powers and Allies both used a variety of weapons such as machine guns, chemical weapons , clothing, biplanes, artillery, tanks, grenades, and rifles. These weapons were state of the art for the early 20th century. These weapons caused casualties to skyrocket as the Allies and the Central Powers were in a stalemate.
In the years of the Civil War, African Americans played an important role in contributing to the Union Army and the confederate army. A great deal of African American men volunteered to join the Union Army but only after they gained freedom did they participate in fighting the war. Besides the Union Army, there was the confederate army which consisted of slave labor whom were forced to aid the confederacy following their masters. Later in the war, the Confederacy ran short on men and were in need to supply soldiers, leaving no choice but to enlist the colored men. Not only were African American men impacted from the war, but African American women also served to supply and aid in the war.
