How Did The French And Indian War Contribute To The American Revolution

In 1777, the Continental Congress drafted the first constitution, known as the Articles of Confederation. These articles formed a loose confederation of the thirteen states as opposed to a strong and unified country. Due to that, the government soon began facing numerous difficulties under the Articles of Confederation. Under the Articles, there was only an unicameral governing body without any separation of powers. Likewise, since the majority of the power resided in the states, the central government was quite feeble.

The War That Changed America The French and Indian War, which divided the country, was England and France fighting each other for the New World. Even before the war, England and France generally showed considerable enmity towards one another. In the 1700s, they were constantly fighting each other around the world. Once in America, the English settled on the eastern coast while the French built settlements along the Mississippi River.

The Articles of Confederation failed because the articles offered no solutions. Many of these issues did not propose innovation and were primarily conservative providing each state with its own autonomy with minimal influence by the federal government (Schultz, n.d.). This led to multiple disagreements between each state, with each state viewing its own power as a priority over the unity of the Confederation. This created multiple weaknesses within the articles, which includes the following (Articles of Confederation, 2018). Each state, regardless of its size, only had one vote in Congress.

Did the French and Indian War Cause the Revolution? All wars cause effects on the world which must be accepted, whether they are virtuous or wicked. Some effects can change the social world and the economy. The United States, while under British rule, clashed with the French while the rest of the world prospered.

The French and Indian War (also known as the “Seven-year War”) was a turning point for the colonists as they realized their true purpose coming to America, creating their own colony. After the Seven Year War, the colonists not only faced social challenges, but political and economic challenges as well. As a result, the colonists developed a negative relationship toward the “Crown” causing them to progressively become independent and purse their own destiny. After this crucial victory, Britain gained new territory from the French and was faced with additional challenges.

With alot going on during the creation of the Articles of Confederation, Due to the on going effects and changes of the American Revolution. The colonies had been in search to create a more centralized government. Since most colonies had taken more care of their own individual interests, it had been much easier to agree upon and form state institutions. Rather than focusing on the importance of the growth of a strong united but yet equally independent structure for their own national gorvernment.

All these financial and political problems were due to a loose union of thirteen states known as the Articles of Confederation. Although the Articles of Confederation was a big help to make our new nation, it failed in many ways. The national government was unable to solve all the problems mentioned in the previous paragraphs. As a result, in 1787 a meeting was held in Philadelphia by Congress and asked each state to send their delegates to discuss about how to improve the Articles of Confederation. They wrote a new constitution even though they gather to improve the Article of Confederation.

After the Articles of Confederation failed because they failed to give enough power to the national government and congress, our founding father’s needed to reflect on its flaws for a new system to be set in place. Their new creation, our Constitution, was then set into place, and was created from a basis of the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation directly influence the Constitution by its failure by changing some of the responsibilities of the federal and state governments. The Articles of Confederation gave too much power to the states, and the Constitution changed that.

he Articles of Confederation were not a sufficient set of principles for the fledgling United States to rely upon. The main discussion point of the Articles of Confederation was how much power a new government should have, which was something that many disagreed on. The sole branch of government was the legislative branch, which made compelling states to follow laws difficult, if not impossible. Additionally, there were tensions between larger and smaller states over the value of their one vote in Congress, which had not been addressed yet by the Articles of Confederation. As such, the United States Constitution was a profoundly radical departure from the previous resolution of the Articles of Confederation for a multitude of causes.

The United States struggled under the Articles of Confederation, able to declare war and foreign policy, but unable to collect revenue to sustain its actions. The Constitution was designed to give more power to the national government primarily by empowering it with the responsibilities of establishing and maintaining central banking and financial policies. The national government was able to ask for monies from the states, but was not able to enforce collections of those monies needed to sustain their actions. The thirteen states essentially had recently revolted against Britain and its heavy handed tactics of collecting revenue and were almost immediately being asked to ratify and accept changes that would allow the new government to enforce funding as well.

The Articles of Confederation was written by the founding fathers of the USA, and they worked for a long time, and wrote it very well, but there was complications towards the Article. For instance, in the Article, it says that each state would have only one vote in Congress, regardless of its size and population. The bigger states, such as Virginia, did not like this rule because Virginia was a much bigger state and was home to a large population of the 13 states. The people of Virginia thought that they should have more than just one vote in Congress since there was more population in Virginia. Following the Revolutionary War, America had just gained independance from Great Britain and needed to form a new government. The Articles of Confederation were established as an attempt to create a government that was unlike Britain’s. Unfortunately, the Articles of Confederation had several weaknesses. When in the process of repairing those weaknesses, the Federalists and the Anti-federalists formed. The Articles of Confederation were very weak as well as useless to America and because of this, the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists could not agree on a new type of government.

The American Revolution The French and Indian War impacted the American Revolution in many ways. Britain incurred a large debt from the cost of the war and the taxes that they imposed on the colonists created feelings of anger and rebellion that led to the revolution. As a result of the French and Indian war, the British were not at full strength which allowed the actions of the colonists to be more effective. Because of the outcome of the war, France was willing to help the colonists. Without the much needed help from the French the colonist may have never won the war.

The French and Indian War was important to the American Revolution because the debt from the war was the reason that Parliament started taxing the colonists. Also, the French and Indian War made Britain very weak, making the colonists’ actions work a whole lot better. Since France was not happy with the outcome of their war with Britain this was a main reasons for France’s interest in helping the now Americans throughout the Revolutionary War, which was very important to the colonies’ victory. ​The reason why Britain started to tax the colonists was because of the debt resulting from the French and Indian War. The first tax was the the tax on sugar, which was put on the colonists to help pay off the war debt.

The United States confronted many problems once they gained their independence from Great Britain. One of the biggest problems was their form of government at that time, which was stated in the Articles of Confederation. This presented many problem to the states, as stated in a document about the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution, some of the problems of the Articles of Confederation were the poor international trade, poor foreign relations, weak economy, and Shay’s Rebellion.
