Lyndon B. Johnson signed the civil right act because he knew it would benefit him later on. He was born in 1908, on a farm near stone wall in the hill country of central texas. He was long away from the white house because of his background that he grow up poor and he had to work hard in order to get there. He had a starting job which was teaching fifth, sixth and seventh grade at a segregated Mexican American School in cotulla Texas. After a couple years later johnson took ambition to washington D.C where he worked as a congressional aide.
In 1937, Johnson won a texas seat in the us house of representative holding the position for 11 years. He was serving in the south pacific until president roosevelt recalled him to washington. Johnson’s next step in his climb to politics power was the vice-presidency. He’d wanted to be president, but in 1960 he lost the democratic party’s nomination to John F. Kennedy. Three years later, Kennedy was killed, which means Johnson had to take the spot for president of the United States. On july 2, 1964 president LBJ of texas signed a civil right bill. In 1964, Johnson administration was pushing about right, but in the same year president Johnson was handling the civil right problems good enough because he had 57% approve of people according to (DOC B). in addition Johnson had these votes that would help him because 57% of the people approve Johnson about the civil rights problems. Which means it was a good starting. But you can see that he was doing this because it was a political movement that would benefit him later

In 1964, the Johnson Administration had thirty-nine percent about right public votes for pushing integration. Also, 57 percent of public opinion approved the way Johnson was handling the civil rights problem, which was more than half. These results would help Johnson in the presidential election. This is why I believe L.B.J signed the Civil Right Act of 1964 based on principle.
