Some of these included the Louisiana Purchase, or the famous explorers Lewis and Clark who explored many lands.

There were many political, economic, and social changes that occurred during the years 1820-1860. Some of which include Manifest Destiny, financial panics, and reform movements. These changes had many substantial consequences that influenced the growth of The United States as a country and society. A major political change that occurred during this time period was the expansion of the United States westward in North America.

We bought it from France for about $15 million dollars. By buying this territory doubled the size of the United States. Because he just bought some of the Louisiana territory greatly expanded the United States. Jefferson wanted to explore both the new part of the country and the rest of the continent.

If we did not buy the land in the Louisiana purchase we probably would not be here today. Back when the U.S. Bought the land from the Louisiana purchase that's not what they had in mind at first. First, the U.S. Fade an offer of 10 M for New Orleans but the French said if they gave them 15 M that they would give the U.S. all that land and if the U.S. did not buy that land, Canada would have taken over the land. Introduction This “think piece” will be covering the Westward Expansion from 1860 to 1890. During that time a lot of changes occurred to the American land. One of the major impacts, that was noticed, was the increase in railroads and cities. Without these railroads, traveling time to the west could to up to 6 months and the small cities were growing because of the railroads that were being created and were being called “Railroad Towns”.

In the many years of Westward Expansion there were their ups and their downs. The years of treachery and the years of political improved consisted in the Westward Expansion. From mining to the Transcontinental Railroad, the many downfalls it had had an impact on people like Native Americans. However my view of the Westward Expansion was good. Without this period in America, America would have never a giant in the world.

The Westward Expansion all started when America made the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. There were many benefits from the purchase for the US that the French didn’t realize before they sold it. The purchase gave the US access to the Mississippi river which allowed for expansion of river trade to the North and South from the center of the US. The port city of New Orleans was bought by the US and its prosperity benefited the US greatly. The US sent Lewis and Clark west to investigate the land they purchased.

Westward expansion was in many ways by the federal government in the 1800s. This extension of the United States had a big influence on the country. Westward expansion brought railroads, new cities, gold mines, new farmland, more resources, and much more. Expansion of the country came with a lot of positives and also some negatives. From 1805 to 1900 the population of the natives went from 15,000 according to document 1 the non- Native Americans went from zero to 95,000.
