In sixth grade Al got expelled from school because he had beat up a teacher. The 1929 St. Valentine's Day Massacre led to general uneasyness about Thompson's alliance with Al Capone. The massacre was an attempt on killing Bugs Moran, the new leader of the North Siders. The killers had rented an apartment across the street from Moran's headquarters at 2122 North Clark Street, to monitor Moran's movements. On the morning of Thurday, 14. Ferbruary, 1929, Capone's men disguised their selves as police that were about to do a "raid".
