During Abraham Lincoln’s presidency at the start of the 1860, an issue that had divided the nation was slavery. Lincoln’s election to presidency as a republic was not received well by the Southern slave states, as they thought that as a republican he was out to abolish slavery. In an effort to calm southern states and keep them from seceding from the United States, he attempts to ease them with his First Inaugural Address. In his First Inaugural Address his key points are to clam southern leaders of slave states, keep the states from seceding, and make them at ease as he enters presidency.

Did Lincoln free the slaves, or did they free themselves? Many people would debate that Lincoln freed the slaves. Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, stating all slaves in the rebellious state were free. This may have led to the slaves being freed.

Soon after he was murder. Obviously he was catching other people 's attention for someone to do this. This person was intimidated by Lincoln. in another hand there was Andrew Johnson, he also wanted to rebuild the union soon after lincoln was murdered. Reconstruction failed in the Civil War, some failures from the North effectively rebuilt the South.

We can state the obvious, that we are not all perfect, and we certainly say things we don’t mean. Was President Lincoln really a racist? There is documented text that could point evidence that leans in either direction. Things said in the heat of long debates and drawn out conversations that ran for hours, does not make such a monumental man a poor or hypocritical person. Looking at the Constitutional right that “All men are created equal” to the thought that things won’t change without action, and to a man with no moral obligation other than to share his personal option that slavery was wrong, we dive into President Lincoln.

Many people wanted slavery abolished and fought in the Civil War because of that very reason. In 1863, the country tried once again to accomplish what our founding fathers could not. It led to the Civil War. In Lincoln’s House Divided Speech, he states, “In my opinion, it will not cease, until a crisis shall have been reached, and passed. ‘A house divided against itself cannot stand.

While I agree only the North supported the Emancipation Proclamation, it was still a bold move on Lincoln's behalf to issue the Emancipation Proclamation because a large portion of the Northern population did not support the freeing of slaves. They feared integration of blacks into their society. I don't believe Lincoln set out at the beginning of the war to end slavery, although the South opposed Lincoln for this reason. In the beginning of the war Lincoln may have strongly disagreed with slavery, but he was committed to allowing the South to keep slavery as long as it didn't expand and he was a man of his word. According to Stephen B. Oates, in "Lincoln's Journey to Emancipation," "Lincoln was as honest in real life as in the legend."

Douglass, Truth and Lincoln were able to captivate their audiences’ argumentative methods and compelling actions to gain their support. Lincoln advocated for national unity before, during and after civil war. This was Lincoln’s job as a president and the main reason for the civil war. During the Second World War, Lincoln stated that the South would “make war rather than let the nation survive” and that though he did not like war, he would better accept than let the nation perish. During the war period, Lincoln freed all the slaves in order to weaken the South.

Abraham Lincoln Abraham Lincoln was probably best known for being the president of the Civil War but Lincoln played another big role as he also helped fuel the Civil War. He helped get this war started by speeking against slavery. Lincoln said slavery shouldn’t be abolished but excluded the territories. Because of what lincoln said this put southerners in a state of fear because if he were to win his election and slavery would be excluded from the territories that would mean that no new slave states could be added thus getting rid of slavery as a whole.

This quote clearly shows that the freedom of slaves was not his concern and unnecessary if it did not help the Union; as the result, slavery still exists if there is no war. John Wilkes Booth did not accomplish his goal because he didn't motivate the South, he didn't keep the Civil War going, and he didn't become known as a Southern hero. To begin with, John Wilkes Booth didn't motivate the South, one of the main goals of his. The South had already given up at the time. The whole point of killing Lincoln was for Southern glory, which he didn't achieve.

A common controversy in American history is the fact that Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves. Many claim that he freed them with the Emancipation Proclamation but it’s more complex than that. There were many events that helped free slaves and the Emancipation was only a small portion of America’s journey to freedom and “equality”. In reality, Lincoln helped the process of freeing the slaves but, he did not do it himself. Lincoln was not an abolitionist.

In conclusion, Abrahams assassination was needless because he was the first to have sympathy for slaves and made sure it ended and he lead America better than most other presidents.one thing to take from this essay is to support the correct leaders and dont support the incorrect
