Chores by Hoopla Clique was humorous and playful show that involved acrobatics and was performed at Ferny Grove State High School. During the play the humorous mood was created by the two actors Julian Roberts and Patrick Heilmann with their effective use of movement, tension of task and tension of surprise. This essay will analyse the humorous mood, tension of task and tension of surprise that the two actors created with the effective use of movement.
In the resuscitation scene Heilmann who was the actor in the Pikachu pyjamas and Roberts the actor in the Sully pyjamas created the comedic mood through tension of task and tension of surprise. The task in this scene was to resuscitate Roberts. In this scene the actors used the qualities of movement to create humour. Roberts was laying on the ground depicting a lifeless person. With every compressions that Roberts did on Heilmann’s chest, Heilmann’s leg moved up in timing with a percussive movement then his arms also moved up in timing with the compressions in a percussive movement this part of the scene involved slap sticks and tension of surprise. The use of slapsticks in this scene made the show light hearted and fun

Both the resuscitation and cleaning scene produced humour though tension of task, tension of surprise, the shape of the characters and the qualities of movement. Heilmann and Robert were very successful at creating humour due to the way they used the qualities of movement especially percussive movements. Both of these scenes kept the audience engaged and interested throughout the performance. With the use of tension of task every scene was related to the goal of getting to use their bicycle this also allowed the audience to understand the characters better. In "The Last Night of Ballyhoo", is an outstanding play written, by Alfred Uhry, around the 1996 and premiering in Olympic Arts Festival in Atlanta, Georgia. Ballyhoo's living room is big part of the playwright and the play setting was created to give a visual for the audience. The scene that where held in a small play setting that allow the audience to get more of an intimate experience of the play. The actors did a phenomenal job bringing their character to life. The play scenes where very minimalistic which help the actors with their scene transitions go more smoothly and keep the audience engaged.
It was one of the few on the air that mimicked the traditions of shows like The Honeymooners, and one of the last to succeed before TV comedy was taken over by upper-class white folks who never seemed to worry about money. The scenes consist of the many techniques mentioned above, there are two main characters are shown and the play is set in contrasting between the past and the present. There are two real locations that are the TV studio and Melbourne hotel, however the interplay of the techniques in the scenes works together to create a wartime setting. The audience awareness is developed through the historical information from each scene. Theatrical devices a re combined to create various features and have a great dramatic impact. The structure promotes the audience to watch the play because the structure of this storyboard is contrasted between the past and present that will attract audience attention, as it is an historical play set between different times.
There were also scenes including partial nudity, sex and drugs. The directors choice to visually display some of the more graphic content of this play instead of merely alluding to it, gave the piece a raw and relatable feel. He prides himself on his wit and clever thinking, so being quick on his feet during his treatment helps Brent feel more like himself, assisting him cope with the ordeal. While being wheeled down to the operating room for surgery, Brent tries to ease the tension: “I ask them if they know the way, just to be funny, and they say, “Yes, we know the way.” And I ask them if they're, sure and they say, yes, they’re sure. I think they know I’m joking” (78). By making light of the situation, Brent eases his own anxiety, and makes being in the hospital a little less horrible.
Like most performances, “Kinky Boots” is highly educative and informative owing to the plot and storyline which have a different approach as opposed to most plays. As such, my choice to select “kinky Boots” as my performance of choice is influenced by the international acclaim the play has received from the time of its debut. Notably, the play has a variety of advantages owing to the level of experience of its writers, cast, and crew members. However, the show has managed to attract a large demographic because of its use of theatrics showcased in the performance. The productions of this play were successful through stage design, lighting crewing, and acting. Those three aspects made the quality of the play stand out to me, as an audience member. The production of the set design of the play was a good effort. The set design for the play staging aims for the sweet spot between feeding adult nostalgia and satisfying a new generation of children.
