Imagine being torn from your home, forced into camps, discriminated against to the extreme, separated from your family, and possibly even killed just because of your religious beliefs. Many of Europe's Jews suffered this treatment. About 5-6 million jews out of 9 million Jews died in the holocaust. Marion Blumenthal-Lazan, was a jew who did not die. She should receive the Holocaust Medal of Honour.

“ Nobody can acquire honor by doing wrong,” Thomas Jefferson once declared. The people of Thomas Jefferson's time had high standards towards honor. They were more chivalrous, polite, respectful, considerate, refined, courteous, they paid more attention to morals and ethics. Even in the early days of man honor was something that was held above all else, it was coveted, something that people strove for. Julius Ceasar once stated, “ I love the name of honor, more than I fear death.”

Respect is a quality that, although highly valued, is very hard to attain. Therefore, once you achieve the point of being respected in society, it is important to maintain a good reputation to avoid losing that title. Reputation, which goes hand in hand with respect, is the way you are viewed to an outsider or stranger. On the contrary, your actions are not necessarily perceived as your reputation; rather, reputation is what people in the society believe to be your actions. During the Salem Witch Trials of 1692, many innocent citizens had their reputation and level of respect tarnished as a result of gossip that had been spread.

In "Outliers: The story of success", Malcom Gladwell explained and gave examples of ways to be successful. There are many ways that Gladwell mentioned, such as luck, practice, background, family, and culture. There are many more of course, but I will save time. There are three of which I think are the most important, these being Intelligence, Social Skills, and Location; and these are explanations as to why I think these are the most important.

Respect is a word that has a lot of depth to it no matter what way you use it. The word by definition is kind of hard to pin down concretely because it is subjective, and it can be used in many different ways with many different meanings based on the usage. It is a word that everybody wants a piece of no matter how big or small the piece they get is. All definitions aside, the respect that most people want is the respect that is earned by the showing of honorable actions or personality characteristics. Be it dedication and sacrifices for one’s job or ones moral and ethical views and principles.

There are a lot of important reasons why we should honor our veterans. One of the biggest reasons we should honor our veterans is because they risked their lives to protect ours. In some of the scariest, if not the scariest, situations in the world, thousands of soldiers bravely fought for our freedom. Even though they knew the risks, they still decided to go into the military. To this day, many veterans still face side effects of war.

The virtue of respect means that a Samurai should value all life in everything they do and say. Respect should be given no matter if it views differ from their own. Honesty in a Samurai is vital in order to gain both respect and trust from others. The virtue of honor focuses on the Samurai living every moment defending their personal dignity even to the death. Chapter Six takes place in Harlan, Kentucky. It talks about the Howard-Turner feud. The Howard and Turners were families that constantly had arguments and disagreements. The arguments lead to violent fights, gun shots, and death. If one was to go to Harlan, Kentucky and tried to investigate this case of why the intense feud against these two families, one would think it had to do with internal factors.

The true definition of honor is “a privilege” or “high respect”. To me honor means having courage to be committed to or feel pride for something or someone, so I guess I’m not that far off. Around the world there are many honorable people and honorable scientists. One scientist is a man famous for his inventions but mostly for his world known art pieces including The Last Supper and the Mona Lisa. He was also the only left handed artist of his time.

Honor is a quality that warriors need to gain respect from their peers. Warriors gained respect multiple ways. They never fought for money, never disobeyed commands from their master, never retreat in battle, being helpful to ladies, etc. Those were just some ways samurai and knights gained respect. Both warriors act similarly to gain respect from others.
