Harriet Tubman Given Too Much Freedom

Harriet Tubman. Former Slave. Conductor of the Underground Railroad. Firm believer in freedom. All of these characteristics describe Harriet as who she was and how she approached her life.

The Underground Railroad was a secret network of routes through fourteen Northern states and Canada, also known as the promise land. Many different group of people assisted slaves in their movement north including: free black community members, Northern abolitionists, philanthropist, and church leaders of the Quaker religion. The Underground Railroad played a huge part in the lives of millions of slaves trying to seek freedom in the North. The Underground Railroad was in commission from pre-Civil War until after the war officially ended.

Birthday- March 10, 1913 Born- Dorchester County, MD Date of birth- March 10, 1913 Accomplishments- Tubman is best known for escorting over 300 slaves to freedom. The Underground Railroad was a lifeline for slaves escaping to freedom. Harriet tubman didn 't go to college because she was a slave and slaves owners couldn 't get an education.

During the 19th century African Americans didn't have the same rights as Caucasian Americans which whom they worked for and were treated cruelly. This lead Harriet Tubman to help many slaves trying to earn their freedom from slavery.

Harriet Tubman freed over 300 slaves to freedom by using the Underground Railroad. The Underground Railroad is a railroad that helps people escape to freedom if they were a slave. Harriet has gone through so many things during her lifespan but she did not let that affect the life that she was living.

Harriet Tubman worked for the Union Army during the Civil War as a nurse, cook, and spy so she knew the land of the south very well. The fact that she knew the land of the south very well was extremely helpful for the runaway slaves when escaping through the Underground Railroad (Maschi). According to the Library of Congress, if any slave decided they wanted to stop their journey and turn back to return to their masters, Harriet would hold a gun at them and say, “You’ll be free, or die a slave”. Harriet feared that if slaves returned then hers as well as the other escaping slaves lives would be in great danger by getting discovered, being captured, and lastly being killed.

The Underground Railroad assisted thousands of slaves on their journey to freedom in the Northern United States. This network of abolitionists worked to aid runaway slaves despite the many dangers and threats they crossed with every African-American they helped. There are many complicated and interesting points regarding the Underground Railroad including its creation and purpose, the peril that slaves and abolitionists experienced daily, and famous leaders that made the entire system possible. The Underground Railroad is fascinating in the way that it was created, its purpose, and how it serves that purpose.

Freedom is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. The foundation of America is freedom. Freedom from Britain. However, the freedom is limited to white males who own property. When colonists started to immigrate to America, they wanted to escape from under the rule of Britain.

Abolition is the movement to end slavery and it began in the late 1700’s. The north states outlawed slavery, but the south kept it. The abolition to send slavery is important because slavery should not exist. It is horrible, and no black person should have to go through that. Because of that Abolitionists then began to demand a law ending slavery in the south.

No other word is more fundamental and has more meaning in describing what Americans are and their ideologies than freedom, but prior to Civil War, the real meaning of freedom had to be learned. Can a country be a free nation if not everyone is enjoying freedom? The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave shows that prior to the Civil War, slaves had no rights or freedom. The book Across Five Aprils shows that the issue of slavery was so big, that it was causing division among families, more important it torn the country apart. The Sullivan Ballou Letter helps us to appreciate that the government needed help to be united again and many were willing to give their own life to help to make the government strong.

Harriet Tubman, also known as “the moses of her people,” is one of the most influential figures in African American history to this day. Having played the role of an abolitionist, humanitarian and even a union spy, Tubman became a woman filled with faith and grandeur. After escaping from her captivity as a slave, the ideology of bringing others like herself to freedom fueled Tubman for many years to come. Her determination changed how America looks at freedom in such a way that gained her respect and admiration from the majority; furthermore, she executed the task that she set out to do--set the oppressed free. Originally born as Araminta Ross in 1820 to her slave parents Ben Ross and Harriet Greene, Harriet Tubman was immediately deep-seeded into a life of seemingly endless obedience.

Harriett Tubman, an exceptional woman who was born into slavery in 1822. She escaped slavery as a young adult, which had a strong hold on her throughout her life. However, instead of just running away and leaving America forever, she came back to save other enslaved people despite the risks that there were. I believe that Harriett Tubman's greatest achievement was bringing slaves to freedom, in which she developed the Underground Railroad, brought slaves from the South to the North, and helped with the Combahee River Raid. Tubman is known for all of her work with the Underground Railroad since it was a huge accomplishment.

The struggles of slavery in the American South Slaves in the American South endured difficult lives. A couple struggles that slaves had was that their families were split up and they had hard working conditions. During slavery, slaves families got split up .Harriet Tubman 's sisters were sold to plantations far away. This proves that families were split up.

The main idea of freedom is to be respectful and helpful to the community. Freedom is not endless. Freedom should be limited in some circumstances for the benefits of the community. You can't just do whatever you want just saying that “I have freedom.” We can’t kill people, do things illegally.

Freedom means the power or right to act, speak, or think without restraint, and the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved. Freedom is the correction to do what he/she wants, live life, and eat what he/she wants. How do we live free? We live free by not judging other people’s freedom rights. Everyone has their own rights.
