Killing people is obviously not in the norm, but still we begin to wonder what causes humans to have the ability to end the life of another? Those that choose science to answer all questions, psychology can definitely help. From childhood to the anatomy of the person there can almost be an answer to this difficult question. Harold Fredrick Shipman Jr. was born January 14th, 1946. Mothers name was Vera, and fathers name was Harold, Shipman was the second child of four children. He grew up watching his mother get sicker and weaker from lung cancer. At the age of seventeen, his mother that he loved dearly passed away. He continued with denial to any accusation. On October 5, 1999, Harold went to trial with 15 murdering charges and forgery. Harold denied the misuse of lethal administration of pain relievers and denied knowledge of how the victims could have received them. Harold was sentenced for a life in jail. Harold had no diagnosed mental disorder, he was capable to withstand trial as a stable person. the exact number of lives Harold Shipman has taken will be unknown, some would say 250 victims. He is named Dr. Death and soon took his own life on January 13, 2004. Harold's death was one of surprise to the guards at the jail since he showed no signs of being suicidal. He requested many his victims for cremation ("Serial Killer, Dr. Harold Shipman, A.K.A. Dr. Death"). Cremation would destroy any evidence of morphine toxicity making it impossible to actually determine a cause of death. The patients that weren’t cremated, he recommended that there was no need for an autopsy. Therefore, Shipman would go back and alter the deceased patients’ medical records in the computer, therefore, it would show that they were suffering from failing or poor health.

Because of her mother’s dream she ended up divorcing her husband and moving to Hollywood with her daughter. October 11th, 1961, James Hanratty was arrested for murder and rape. He was found guilty for the murder of a 36 year old scientist Michael Gregsten in August 22nd 1961. The Case of Paul Mills and Dr. Nancy Morrison Dr. Nancy Morrison was arrested for first-degree murder in 1996 for administering a shot of potassium chloride to her terminally ill patient Paul Mills in hope to hasten his death. Prior to his death, Paul Mills had undergone multiple operations including one to remove a part of his esophageal due to cancer, after each operations, he was left weaker and more dependent on hospital care and machines to be kept alive. He was in serious pain, suffering from being in a state of constant suffering, so Paul Mills requested to be allowed to die. A DNR was issued and his family decided to take him off life support. Both himself and his family agreed to the cessation of life support, and there was clear evidence that he will not recover.

J.S. Dalal. Serial killers tend to fall into four different categories that help to explain the nature of their crimes, which branch into their origins. There are four types of serial killer: visionary, mission-oriented, hedonistic, and control-oriented. A visionary tends to commit crimes based on psychotic delusion, like murder because of voices in their head telling them to do so (Dalal 110-111). Mission-oriented killers have a certain goal with overwhelming feelings that it is their duty to kill a certain type of person like a homosexual or prostitute to “clean up” society (Dalal 111).

The issue of euthanasia and assisted suicide has become a national issue because of the case of Tracy Latimer and Sue Rodriguez. In the case of Tracy Latimer, she suffered from a severe form of cerebral palsy since birth. Being at the age of twelve, she had a mental capacity of a four-month-old baby. Robert Latimer decided to end his daughter’s life. The Crown prosecuted Latimer on the charge of murder in the first degree but a jury found him guilty of a lesser offense of murder in the second degree (Baum 2015).

Woodman didn’t stop there, after a long surf trip in 2001 he decided to create his first prototype of the GoPro. Since he realized while surfing the problem was that for most people, especially when performing an extreme sport, was not being able to capture photos or videos of themselves doing such acts.
