Hades was feared and respected. The gypsies fear Dracula yet they simultaneously are subservient to him, as if damned to be under his control. In Hell, Hades has the three Fates who spin the string which determines fate. They can change it, but do not. Dracula has his own three personal vampires who can take Harker’s life in the castle of Dracula, yet they listen to their master.

As we read the Odyssey by Homer we have learned that gods and goddess were an important part of the lives of the people in ancient Greek. The people had an admiration for the gods. They would pray, ask for help in any kind of situation, and do sacrifices for them. We can also say that the gods are like a parental figure to the people in the Odyssey; if the people respected and obey them they would not get in trouble and sometimes get rewarded, but if they disrespected and disobey them chances are that they would get punished. In the Odyssey, we see that Odysseus, the main character, is the enemy of a powerful god.

Poseidon was a Greek god of the sea, earthquakes and horses, he also ruled the Mediterranean Sea and the black sea. This means he is the ruler of the sea. He was worshipped for navigating people at sea and for being a fertility god. Poseidon’s powers include, creating storms, earthquakes, floods and summoning sea monsters. He is the second son of Cronus and Rhea, he is also the brother of Zeus, Hades, Demeter, Hestia, and Chiron.

Arthur Cotterell describes Poseidon as “ruler of the waves, a sea god liable to attacks of tempestuous rage” (179). He also is god of horses and earthquakes, so he was not one that would be good to upset. Poseidon was extremely feared in Greece not just because he had control over every ocean, but mainly because his iconic trident could cause extreme earthquakes (Cotterell 179). For these reasons, he was an extremely important part of Greek mythology; however, his Italian counterpart did not play the exact same role. It makes sense for a large number of cultures to have a sea god, but Italy was not one of these due to them being landlocked.

Poseidon is one of the most known Greek gods throughout Greek myths. It is said that Poseidon controlled more then just the sea he also was able to control earthquakes droughts, rivers, and even floods. Even though Poseidon was one of the more powerful Greek gods he tended to have a bad temper as there are various stories about Poseidon some have even said he gave humans the first horse. Poseidon had a stormy and violent nature but also was stubborn. Poseidon's palace deep in the ocean then sought after a wife to bear his child.

He was not evil (Hades). He was friendly to other gods and people and helped them on their quests. For example, when Perseus set off to kill Medusa, Hades gave him his helmet that turned the wearer invisible (Roman). Perseus used this helmet to sneak up on Medusa without her noticing he was there. Without the help of Hades, Perseus might not have been able to kill Medusa (Sherman).

There has to be a leader in them. Zeus is the leader. All the gods and goddess have different powers or strength. Zeus has most famous power. the ability to throw lightning bolts.
