Hades In Greek Mythology, there are multiple gods. They all have strange twists to their story. One of these gods is Hades. Hades is important to Greek Mythology because he is the brother of Zeus and Poseidon, god of the underworld, and husband of Persephone (per-seh-fa-nee). Hades’ father, Cronus, was told of a prophecy that one day, a descendant of his will overthrow him as Cronus did to his own father. When Rhea gave birth to Hades on an island named Crete, Cronus remembered the prophecy and swallowed Hades to the pit of his stomach. As time went on, Rhea had given birth to four younger siblings of Hades ─ Poseidon, Demeter, Hera, Hestia, and finally, Zeus (greek-gods.info). The story of the Greek god Zeus begins with his father, the supreme god Kronos. According to an article from the Columbia Encyclopedia, one of his children was prophesied to overthrow Kronos; thus, because he did not want to be overthrown, Kronos ate each one of his children that his wife, Rhea, birthed. The article continues to say that Rhea replaced Zeus with a rock inside of a cloth, so that Kronos would eat the rock instead of the baby. Zeus survived his father’s horrible habit and, when he was older, convinced his father to regurgitate all of his siblings. Zeus and his siblings then rose up against their father prosperously.
A sinner condemned in Tartarus to an eternity of rolling a boulder uphill then watching it roll back down again, Sisyphus was founder and king of Corinth, or Ephyra as it was called in those days. Hades himself would have to forcibly take him down under with him and then enforce Sisyphus’s punishment for a crime against the gods popularly known as the eternal labor of pushing the great boulder to the top of a hill, only for it to roll back down again and
