1 There was no smell
2 When I pour the oil in the water I noticed the oil started to bubble to the top. So I got to stir the oil that’s when there were smaller bubbles. As I smell the water there was no smell to the water. Putting the vinegar I didn’t smell anything but I did see the water was a change it was dark that’s when I added the vinegar

I added the detergent and it look like a cloud with bubbles.

The water at this time was turing brown at this time it had a smell of the potting soil.
6 The water was clean but with a light brown color it was not a bad smell

Hypothesis = For this dirty water can be treated it will then be clean and drinkable water
2. Based on the results of your experiment, would you reject or accept the hypothesis that you produced in question 1? Explain how you determined this.
Accept/Reject = If this dirty water can be treated it will then be clean and drinkable water. It was confirmed “dirty” water it was dark brown and had a smell to it and it was not drinkable. After I filtered the dirty water it looks clean the dirt out of the water and now the water looks clean so it could be drinking.
3. What are the differences in color, smell, visibility, and so forth between the “contaminated” water and the “treated” water?

This week we went to the Conodoguinet Creek. While we were at the creek we did many different things. One of the experiments we did was the Critter Count which was my favorite. Another experiment we did was the Eutrophication Tests. The last Experiment we did was the bobber test.
In this lab we were trying to figure out if Salt Creek and Barker Lake had the correct chemical balances to sustain catfish for the years coming. In order to find this out, we tested the water using a Hach Water Testing Kit. Inside were dissolved oxygen reagent powder pillows 1, 2 and 3 which we added and mixed into our sample water to prepare it for testing. Then we added droplets of Sodium Thiosulphate Solution into the prepared water too see how much dissolved oxygen parts per million were in the water. Our independent variable in this experiment was the 5 different testing sites that we went to for water samples.
After 5 days the plates were removed from the cold room and the gram-negative test for Colony A on the EMB agar showed pink fisheye colonies which lead to the conclusion that the gram-negative organism within Unknown #21 was Enterobacter aerogenes. Around 2 years ago, the city of Flint was forced to switch their water supply from Lake Huron to a more local source, Flint River. Before, this was not a big problem to the residents of Flint because they were told that the water they were drinking was harmless. However, people began to doubt that the water they were drinking was safe because it looked like sewage. Over time, new evidence began to arise claiming that the water contained massive amounts of lead and iron.
