Great American: Chris Kyle Chris Kyle was born April 8th, 1974 in Odessa Texas. His father was Wayne Kyle and his mother was Deby Lynn. Kyle’s father was a hunter, so when Kyle turned eight, he got his first rifle which was a bolt-action Springfield rifle. After high school Kyle became a professional bronco rodeo rider and worked on a ranch but eventually had to stop doing rodeo because he severely injured his arm. Kyle met his wife Taya in a bar in San Diego. He became a Navy SEAL and was assigned to SEAL Team 3. Chris Kyle was a US Navy SEAL in SEAL Team 3. Kyle is said to be the most lethal sniper in US military history and has 160 confirmed kills. Kyle served four tours in the Iraq War. He was awarded several awards and medals for the great things he did. Wayne was very appreciative and understanding of Chris and what kind of person he was. He did not think Chris was stupid or out of his mind for wanting to travel and eventually go to Alaska.
