Great American: Chris Kyle Chris Kyle was born April 8th, 1974 in Odessa Texas. His father was Wayne Kyle and his mother was Deby Lynn. Kyle’s father was a hunter, so when Kyle turned eight, he got his first rifle which was a bolt-action Springfield rifle. After high school Kyle became a professional bronco rodeo rider and worked on a ranch but eventually had to stop doing rodeo because he severely injured his arm. Kyle met his wife Taya in a bar in San Diego. He became a Navy SEAL and was assigned to SEAL Team 3. Chris Kyle was a US Navy SEAL in SEAL Team 3. Kyle is said to be the most lethal sniper in US military history and has 160 confirmed kills. Kyle served four tours in the Iraq War. He was awarded several awards and medals for the great things he did. He received two Silver Star Medals, five Bronze Star Medals, one Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and several other awards. …show more content…

Since he had honorably done his job the best he could and did a good job at it he was given the nickname “Legend” by his fellow SEALs. They gave him that name because of how efficient he was as a sniper and how hard he fought for what he thought was right. Chris was also given a nickname by the people of Iraq that was usually noticed written on the many wanted posters that the Iraqi soldiers had put in Iraq cities.
