Question 1: In the government, government bureaucrat is the person who is working in the government to keep the law consistency and also help the government to reduce the workload. Even though the executive branch controls the majority of the federal bureaucracy, but the Congress and the courts also have some influences to the federal bureaucracy, and they also have their own bureaucracy. The government bureaucracy represents a very important role in the government because after the government makes the decision, there must be a group to do and operate those works and decisions. Therefore, the Government bureaucracy is divided into three types: Cabinet Departments, Independent Agencies, and Government Corporations. Firstly, the Cabinet department …show more content…
In my point of view, restriction of free thought and free speech is good and bad. Why there must be restrictions on freedom of speech and press even though the first Amendment supports the freedom of speech? Somehow, in some scenarios, the restrictions of speech must be applied. For example, while Trump is talking in his president campaign, in the crowd there is someone keeps yelling: “I am carrying a bomb with me”. In that case, this can be considered life threatening to a person or a group, and this person should be arrested because of the threatening. Therefore, the freedom of speech should be restricted in some ways. For instance, the government groups all the people who are in the Osama Bin Laden case, and they announce and plan all the strategies to arrest Osama Bin Laden. Those people who are attended to the group or the meeting should keep the information in the top priority secret in their list, and the restrictions of freedom of speech will take place here. They are obligated to keep the operation as a secret and cannot be revealed until the operation is taken place. Therefore, restriction of freedom of speech is necessary in some situations. However, if there are too many restrictions on freedom of speech, it would violate the 1st Amendment of the United …show more content…
However, it does not mean that the government cannot control the media, because media is a public good. For this reason, the government has the power to regulate the social media. Opinion leaders and mass media have a big influence on molding to the public intention, because they provide the information, knowledge, and news to the public. However, the media is also bias. There are many social medias talk about one issue, but each media has different interpretation about the issue. Some medias protect and support that issue, but some others just want to ban it. Like Fox News, they supported Trump for the 45th president of the United States. In the other hand, CNN supported Hillary for the president. Public opinion can also impact on government policy. Government is the representative of the people in the country. Therefore, if the people in the country complain too much about a policy or a law, the government should consider about the
For example being on a plane and yelling bomb or being in a crowded room and yelling fire when there is no bomb or fire. Yelling those things will cause people to panic and can cause problems and might injure people. Everything else should be protected under the first amendment. A quote from Benjamin Franklin, “Without Freedom of Thought, there can be no such Thing as Wisdom; and no such Thing as publick Liberty, without Freedom of Speech; which is the Right of every Man, as far as by it, he does not hurt or control the Right of another: And this is the only Check it ought to suffer, and the only Bounds it ought
Its size, complexity, and overlapping responsibilities leave the federal bureaucracy open to constant attempts to reorganize and streamline. There are so many numbers of federal government agencies, commissions, and departments more than 2000 of those, which is specific area; however, some is wider than others, while their
Federal bureaucracies are a large role in our government by managing thousands of federal programs. These bureaucracies hold a lot of power but still have to be held accountable. The President, Congress, the judicial system, and the federal bureaucracy itself hold federal agencies accountable. The President has the power to hold federal bureaucracies accountable through executive orders but does not personally have the knowledge or time to oversee bureaucracies on a day-to-day basis (Patterson, 2013).
The federal bureaucracy is organized by different categories such as the departments, independent administrative agencies, independent regulatory commissions, government corporations, and the Executive Office of the President, (EOP). Each category is structured and operated differently and has different responsibilities. The departments of the national bureaucracy has fifteen units. These units are major service organizations of the federal government. These departments were created by Congress and have developed as the need for each unit presented itself.
I believe freedom of speech should not be limited. Nowhere in the constitution does it give the government the right to limit our freedoms ,that act is truly unconstitutional. If we let them limit our freedoms then that gives them the power to limit little by little until it 's eventually all gone. The people should not be suppressed they should be allowed to put forth their opinions and speak against anything they feel isn 't right. the constitution states that you can say whatever you want as long as it does not include anything profine, or violent.
The 1st Amendment does allow for people to have the right to obtain a freedom of speech, however there are limitations as to what is not protected by the 1st Amendment. Whitney v. California, 274 U.S. 357 (1927) showed that freedom of speech in their nature is not absolute. The First Amendment is constructed to establish a structure that makes it illegal to stop people from practicing their religion, freedom of speech, right for a peaceful protest in any setting, and printing what they want from the press.
Over the past two hundred years, the bureaucracy in the federal government has evolved tremendously. Originally, the bureaucracy consisted of State, Treasury, and War departments. Today, there are over two thousand departments, commissions, and federal government agencies (Ushistory.org) found throughout the United States. Furthermore, the bureaucracy in today’s society is ruled by the Congress and the President. When the bureaucracy was first developed, a system called patronage was created in which citizens filled government positions in exchange for their support for the Democratic-Republican party.
We don’t have freedom of expression because of microagression which limits on what can be said. Rosenblatt makes another point when he states “Freedom is like a legal drug. How far will it go?” (Rosenblatt p.216). This is saying that freedom of expression may be permitted but is not expressed.
The bureaucracy does not have any type of specific power, it has many different powers, the power that it does have originated from it being considered a part of the executive branch. The federal bureaucracy is thousands of federal government agencies that administer the federal laws and programs. Bureaucracy acts as the rule of government, it implements the public policy. In order for a policy to be passed, the president and Congress have to go through the bureaucracy. The bureaucracy makes the final rules and decisions about how programs will operate.
Free speech is America’s first amendment, which in its own clearly shows its importance. Today the true definition of free speech has seemed to have been blurred. As Lucia Martinez Valivia, professor at Reed College states: “The right to speak freely is not the same as the right to rob others of their voices.” Everyone despite difference in opinions, has the right to free speech as protected by the first amendment, and those who limit the speech of others violate the ideals of our founding fathers.
When thinking of the media you think they are reporting the appropriate and accurate information not based on any personal opinions and feelings. Also one would not think the media would be reporting based on one side of politics or the other. The media is extremely biased when it comes to politics and news. While some of the media is conservative-biased I believe the mass media is liberal-biased. Majority of media outlets are liberal companies, media personnel and journalists will identify themselves as democrats and liberals more so than republicans or conservatives and lastly the left side (liberals) of the mass media is persuasive on what information to report.
The intent of this criticism is not to point the many flaws of bureaucracy, rather to better improve upon it. I believe its important to first establish that not all public bureaucracies can be seen as dysfunctional just because one is. An example of this provided by Knott and Miller is that when the New York City Police Department found corruption in its vice department, it didn’t mean that all police officials were a suspect of the case (Knott & Miller, 1987, p. 118). Furthermore, in the United States, most interactions with local bureaucracies are fairly present. A study presented by Knott and Miller from 1963 presents that Americans feel much more equal treatment from bureaucracy in comparison to other parts in the world.
