Going back to school has always been on my mind but never a priority. I allowed other life distractions to interfere. After what seems like years of trying to find my identity and motivation, I have finally decided to go back to school to better not only my life but my daughter’s as well. Being a single mother of one, I want my daughter to see that not only your skill set, but a college degree is a great way to start your career and meet the expectations you set for yourself. The expectations I have for myself are finishing my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and eventually finishing with my MBA in Human Resources. I enjoy helping people reach their full potential and push beyond their limits. Seeing myself succeed and others, inspires
I Also enjoy coming up with a solution to issues that may come up. It is my passion to make things work again or better than they were originally. Wina was able to have a better chance of applying for more companies because a business major is more abroad. Not only did it bring economic benefits, but it helped in a way that she could become more confident since she persevered and achieved her dream of earning a degree. Also, she learned a lot of college lessons during those years and is able to practice it in real life, In the end, interviewing my mom, Wina Bailey, helped me understand and learn from her mistakes and how college is a huge benefit of being successful in life. The last message my mom presented to me is to go to college right after high school, get it done right away, and take advantage of opportunities whether it’s tutoring or being able to retake a test, Nonetheless, “ Time management is the utmost, once you get that down you won’t be overwhelmed” this allows any college student to be prioritized and have a “better flow” when it comes to school or college work.
Growing up on the border of inner city and suburban lifestyle I have seen many different things. The struggles, the triumphs, setbacks, but also the amazing comeups in life. Throughout everything that I have seen, I always wanted to help those who had fallen get back up and be one of the many people who encouraged and advocated for the ones who succeeded. My passion has stayed true for years to be the helping hand for my community and those generations who will come after me.
Congratulations, you have the unwavering commitment to go back to school. That degree is on the horizon and you’re willing to devote a great deal of time to studying but your
The path that has led me to pursue a career in the medical field started about five years ago. In 2010 I was informed by my employer about downsizing our hourly employees and possible relocation for managers. At this time I was also told I would be expected to earn my MBA and eventually relocated because they would be eliminating my department at the current location. It was a goal of mine to go return to school but at this point I was not sure if wanted to continue in my current field. Being an accountant and an assistant controller I earned a very good living and I was successful at my job but never felt passionate or enjoyed my job.
Before my sophomore year I found out that I was pregnant with my son. I decided to take a year away from school to embrace being a new mom before going back to school. Being a new mom and working I found it very hard to go back in the classroom so I a decided to finish out school online. I begun online classes at Everest College online. During this time I also relocated to Albany New York where I obtained my Associate degree in Business administration from Everest College online.
Something such as returning back to school was long gone and in my past goals. After a couple of years I never thought I would end up going back to school since everything that I wanted was going good and according to plan. However sometimes we are faced with tough situations where we must find other resources in order to improve and better ourselves. Going back to school was one of the most important and wise decisions that I have ever made. Finding well-qualified candidates for a job or career nowadays is a challenge, especially in the field that I am currently in; law enforcement.
I will help motivate my peers to take on more community and school service projects. I am not afraid to break out of my comfort zone to benefit those around me. The past two years I have worked to come out of my comfort zone and try new things. This lead me to many clubs and extracurricular activities that I know enjoy.
Finding motivation to attend college is easy, keeping the motivation to finish is the difficult part. I decided to enroll in college to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Business with a concentration in Finance. I hope that the degree will give me the opportunity to apply for a better position within the organization that I currently work for. A secondary goal of returning to school is to demonstrate to my son that attending college is required for many jobs and that returning to school as an adult has various difficult challenges. I have been working for the past nine years as an Assistant Financial Officer and am highly competent at my job.
I am able to teach certain skills that helped enhance their lives and enabled them to be comfortable in performing certain task that they might not feel capable of doing. I feel a since of joy knowing that I am one of the people who taught someone how to read and write. Teaching someone who has never been able to read or write was a challenge, but we did. If I did not have the cooperation of the clients and people in the work force, they would not have a job today. This job has helped me to practice more patience and understanding of the needs of people with disabilities.
As a first generation student to attend college from a family of seven, the journey to a higher education has been arduous and overwhelming. My family gives me all the encouragement I need and are very optimistic about pursuing a higher degree. Unlike myself, my parents did not have the opportunity to attend college. My parents were born and raised in a small town in Mexico where the highest level of education they received was fifth grade. I have worked since I was 14 years old to support my parents with bills, and also saving for college and my own vehicle.
We all know that college education is the path to a successful career. However, even though a successful career in the future is one of my main goals in life to go to college, my decision to go to college was not solely based on it alone. Ever since, I came to to United States at the age of ten I would watch my parents to go above and beyond to provide my brother and I the necessary items we need to fit and adapt to this new society we have been introduced to. In the future, when I'm ready to start a family, I want my children and wife to be provided for and care for without the needs to worry financially. Other than a successful career and the ability to be able to provide for my family, I want to be academically challenge, start a new
I am pursuing a bachelor’s of science with a concentration in business management. Ultimately I have personal and professional reasons for pursuing my degree considering I always had full intention of pursuing my bachelor’s degree in business management after acquiring my associates degree from Erie Community College North Campus fifteen years ago. However, a series of events happened in which I decided my time would be spent pursuing other options taking in account I was working long hours to provide for my first child at 21, therefore I could not find the time to finish pursuing my degree considering at this time online college was not an option. Fortunately for me I have been able to find jobs which paid very well throughout my working life in manufacturing in which I felt I did not need a bachelors degree.
The phrase: “Helping others is the way we help ourselves” from Oprah Winfrey inspired me to choose this profession. Helping people solve their problems, giving them the opportunity to let off steam and share their feelings through confidential talks makes this profession unique and exceptional. I have abilities and values, such as: persistence, kindness, and loyalty, that are highlighted and essential to this job. Also, I have a plan that I will already start following it because this is what I want to be.
