Give My Regards to Broadway Music brings culture to everyday life, it can be found anywhere at anytime. Music doesn’t have to actually be playing for people to hear it. The rhythm of the city is music in itself, everybody has their own unique sound and way to add into the beat of the city. Music expands in many different ways such as country music, which has it’s own unique sound. Country music can be slow with a love story, fast with a break up story to it, or it could be a moderate speed about a big purple dinosaur. Another type of music is rap music. Older generations don’t really like the idea of the fast-talking rappers cussing every five or so words, but the younger generation seems to enjoy it. Rock music is a fast-paced more edgy sound
Michael Paulson, a well-known American journalist recently wrote a piece for the New York Times in September of 2015 called “This Broadway Season, Diversity Is Front and Center”. This piece focuses on the uprising of people from different races being introduced and playing roles in Broadway shows. Paulson asserts this positive statement by providing the reader with many examples of upcoming/present diverse Broadway shows and explaining how the audience can connect with these cultural stories. Paulson also establishes a friendly and highly proud tone when informing his readers that the lack of diversity on Broadway is overcoming; reassuring that indeed times are changing.
Many musical genres have survived and prospered all because of go-go music. Jazz music overcame through decades of disinclined torch passing’s, from swing to the sound of bop and more. Rock-and-roll rediscovered its backbone through punk and heavy metal. Conservatives still squeal every time country music molts into something glossier.
What being Hispanic means to me is mainly opportunity. I say opportunity not only in terms of my educational interests, but my social and cultural ones as well. For example, one area in which I 've seen myself taking advantage of these opportunities is theatre. Over the past 3 years at DePauw, I have been very involved with DePauw theatre, and this past year especially, have taken leadership roles within the department. This involvement has opened my eyes as to exactly how little people of color are represented within theatre, not only in acting roles, but especially in leadership roles.

Drawing on many different styles, this genre of music excited a worldwide generation of young listeners, while, at the same time, distressing musical, cultural, and social authorities. Presently, it is tough to fully understand the bitter criticism the new music generated in its entirety. Rock music gave shape to many different counter-cultural movements which engulfed the world.
