Giovanni Batista Piranesi was an eighteenth 's century Italian artist, architect, and archeologist whose remarkable talent, imagination and the uncanny accuracy in depicting the monuments of Rome had a profound influence on stimulating the imagination of many poets, artists, and writers of the time.
