In a way, she is a lot like Daisy from The Great Gatsby. That is because just as Daisy may have liked Gatsby more, she was not willing to accept anything below the high class of lifestyle that Tom could provide her, and didn’t seem to particularly care when Gatsby died for her, deciding to rather go away on a trip and not even attend his funeral. This is not completely dissimilar to how Gertrude is completely willing to get over the death of her husband instantly and then replace him with his own brother, who she later finds out killed the king. Queen Gertrude is the Queen of Denmark, Hamlet’s mother, the widow of Old Hamlet and the wife of Claudius, brother of her dead husband. Gertrude is ignorant and a woman who means no harm but because of her actions it contributes greatly to the terrible events that occur throughout the play. In this play there’s many conflicts, one of the first conflicts was when Gertrude married King Claudius two months after Old Hamlet’s death. Gertrude is ignorant because she’s not aware of anything happening. For example she’s not aware that King Hamlet’s murder was by his own brother Claudius, even though they were some hints out there to show that it was King Claudius who killed Old Hamlet.

If she actually were an adulteress, she must have had a hand in Claudius’s murder, which also makes her the play 's villainess and not its child-like victim. However, when Hamlet confronts his mother in her closet

Also, Hamlet displays his anguish at the Queen for dishonouring his dead father since “Almost as bad, good mother, as killing a king and marrying his brother” (Shakespeare, pg. 121). In this statement, Hamlet expresses how, through the marriage to her husband’s murderer, Gertrude is a symbol of dishonor and damaging her relationship with the prince. Hamlet is disgusted by Gertrude’s actions and recognizes her not as his mother but the queen and wife of Claudius, the murderer. The respect revered by children to their mother is not evident between Hamlet and Gertrude. In Gertrude’s death scene, Hamlet screams to his mother “Wretched Queen, adieu!”

But in reality she killed herself. Hamlet was so caught up in getting revenge that he disregarded everyone around him. Furthermore proving his judgement was clouded and that caused him to continue the cycle of betrayal. Hamlets need for revenge and his clouded judgement caused him to betray everyone around him.

His suicidal thought and his erratic behavior cause for the king, queen, Ophelia and his friends to begin to spy on him just pushes him over the edge. His action cause concern for King Claudius who shows in ways that he is not trusting of Hamlet because of this the King begins to plot with Laertes to kill hamlet in fencing dual. During this dual Hamlet is stabbed and dies from the poison that was on the blade. Gertrude is seems to be a shallow woman in some ways yet King Hamlet, Hamlet and King Claudius are all devoted to her.

Hamlet eventually kills Claudius like his father told him to, but only did it after his mother, Gertrude, drank the poison that Claudius meant to give Hamlet. This is a result of external action from all the sorrows that was building up in Hamlet’s life. This brings us to our next character, Gertrude, Claudius’s wife and Hamlets

Gertrude is Hamlet’s mother and the Queen of Denmark. When King Hamlet is murdered by Claudius, she didn 't seem to daunt her and shortly thereafter got married to Hamlet 's Uncle Claudius. This gives a suspense in this point of the play because it makes the audience think about if Gertrude had anything to do with the murder of her husband or if she helped plan the murder with Claudius. When Gertrude married the person that killed her husband, Hamlet takes it personal and she basically loses her son because he 's so upset with her.

Her dilemma of having to choose one man over the other is driving her to insanity because she can’t pick just one of them. Certainly she loves both of them or at least that’s what she thought, but Hamlet’s father is her true love while Claudius is the brother of her husband that just so happened to become king after his brother died. In short, she doesn’t know her true feelings for either person. Gertrude feels confused and overwhelmed by everything that just unfolded in front of her. It causes her an undesirable grief that she shouldn’t have had to deal

His world's perspective is being influenced by the confusion he has with his mother's behaviour. The queen, Gertrude, once "... Followed [Hamlet's] father's body, like Niobe, all tears ... would have mourned longer - married with [Hamlet's] uncle" (I.ii.150). Hamlet compares her mother to Niobe who cried for a very long time for her children's death that she turned into stone. Gertrude does a similar act towards her husband's death but only for a short period of time. She finds her happiness from the love King Claudius, Hamlet's uncle, gives her two months after which seems to be unbelievable to Hamlet.

Claudius, as seen in William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, is both intelligent and clever, two traits that, put together, complement his manipulative and dangerous nature. Due to his cunning nature he portrays the role of a very complex villain. The death of King Hamlet by Claudius results in Prince Hamlet to act out of character, which thus resulted in the tragic death of Polonius and Ophelia. While Hamlet and Gertrude were having conversation, Polonius was hiding behind the huge carpet that was hanging on the wall. Unknowingly, Hamlet stabs Polonius.

Throughout the conversation and various parts of the play, Hamlet expresses his disgust for his mother 's actions. He insults her by comparing his father to Hyperion and Claudius to a satyr. He tells Gertrude not to sin by sleeping with him and tells her she is nothing but lustful for marrying a man like Claudius when he says, “That blurs the grace and blush of modesty,/ Calls virtue hypocrite, takes off the rose/ From the fair forehead of an innocent love/ And sets a blister there, makes marriage vows/

In act one Gertrude marries her dead husband 's brother Claudius, Hamlet is not very happy that his mother did this. Hamlet feels very betrayed by his own mother because she remarried so quickly. He feels as if this is an unforgivable

King Claudius, surrounded by Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, found Queen Gertrude and asked her about Hamlet's whereabouts. She then asks to be left alone with the King and, after Hamlet’s two friends leave, she desparately tells him that she has seen something horrific. Claudius wants to know what she is talking about, and what happened. She later answered that Hamlet is even crazier than a storm at sea, and she described the killing of Polonius. Realizing that he himself might have been the person hiding behind the tapestry, Claudius lamented Hamlet's brutality, but he blames himself for not having been a lot more stricter with Hamlet from the beginning.
