I am writing to answer some questions you asked about George Washington during your visit to our country. At the time of your visit, I did not know the answers to your questions, but now I do and am better prepared to answer them. From 1754 to 1763 the British and French were involved in a war known as the French and Indian War. The French and Indian War was fought to determine who got what land in North America. It was a long struggle that the British eventually won but at a huge financial cost. The debt from this war almost destroyed the British government. In 1774 the First Continental Congress met in Philadelphia and declared that the Coercive Acts were not to be obeyed. Parliament declared the Massachusetts Colony to be in a state of rebellion. In April 1775 the Massachusetts Governor is ordered by England to stop the rebellion using whatever force necessary. Soon a disagreement between colonial militiamen and the British guard took place at Lexington, Massachusetts. An unordered shot was fired and the American Revolution began. His army was low on food and short on supplies. Washington stayed with his troops through all of these trying conditions. Washington ordered his soldiers to build wooden huts for themselves and search for straw to use for bedding. He hoped this would keep them warm since there were not enough blankets for everyone. On February 22, 1732, a boy by the name of George Washington was born in the New World. Washington was born in Virginia to Augustine Washington and his second wife, Mary Ball Washington. While growing up, George had no idea that one day he will change the world forever. In 1753, Washington gained a vast amount of military experience in the French and Indian War with a commission as a major in the militia of the British Province of Virginia. Ultimately, this led him to the Revolutionary War of 1775 where he was chosen by the Continental Congress to be commander in chief of the continental army.
Even though George Washington was not officially a federalist, he was the first person to sign the Constitution. Washington is arguably one of the most influential leaders in history, and his signing that document started not only a new beginning, but started a new nation. My family may need me, but General Washington needs me more. It is 1777 and one year into the Revolutionary war. The British are camping only 17 miles away from us in Pennsylvania under the command of General Howe. We are staying in a crammed winter fort named Valley Forge. The conditions here are everything but pleasant, and many men are dying fast and slow.
There were lots of differences, as well as similarities, so let’s talk about them. In the time period of 1775-1783, the British engaged in a war with their North American colonies. The war was just after the French and Indian war, so Britain was hurting after just completing a long war. The British felt that since they just fought a war protecting their colonies, the colonies should help pay for it. This upset the colonies which escalated to a war between Britain and the American colonies. Although the British had multiple advantages, the American Revolutionary war was won by the Americans due to multiple diplomatic, political, and military reasons.

Through December 1777 to June 1778, George Washington led the Continental Army through winter camp. The Continental Army was an army of Patriot soldiers who fought against Britain. The Patriots hated Britain for their taxes and laws. So they went off to war. There was just one problem, they did not know how bad the conditions were going to be.
