Throughout history there have been dictators who have corrupted their countries, brainwashed their people, and have been responsible for the deaths of many. In Animal Farm, George Orwell wrote about animals on a farm who were able to speak and suffer through very similar things that humans have suffered through within their country, and under the rule of a modern day dictator. The animals in the novel were fighting for their freedom from the rule of Mr. Jones, a poor leader who often forgot to feed the animals and take care of them daily. Napoleon, a pig, ran out his competition and took power during a time of instability. And suddenly Animal Farm was turned into an allegorical novel. He used his cunning, manipulative, secret ways, just as Napoleon did, to control those who were under his rule. His rise to power started as a dark past, with him being a poor child, growing up in a small village, along with the death of his father as he finished fourth grade. He moved from village to village, and after being expelled from his catholic school, his punishment was for him to be sent away to the colonial army. During his later years, Mobutu took up careers such as bring a newspaper journalist, and a clerk, but eventually he turned back to the army, gaining higher ranks and eventually becoming a Sergeant Major. Soon after, the country of Congo began to dive into a tunnel of instability and chaos. Poverty came at a higher rate. War began to break out in neighboring countries. And Mobutu took this opportunity as his moment to shine and overthrow the nations leaders, Prime Minister Lumumba and President Kasavubu. Mobutu used his intelligence to organize a military coup and displace the nation’s front runners. Lumumba was chased out of the country by military forces under Mobutu’s rule and he was delivered into his enemies to be slaughtered. And this was the start of Mobutu's rise to power as the dictator of the soon to be country known as
