Michael Boehm of Batavia, IL created the concept for the grill after he was asked to create a follow up product to the sandwich maker. The original intent for the grill was to drain the fat out of hamburgers into a separate reservoir. It also uses duel-heating surfaces on either of its sides to eliminate the need for flipping and an angled bottom plate to allow for the melted fat to move through the groves. The concept of the grill was pitched to nine different companies with George as their spokesperson. George was chosen for the part because he was well known for eating two reduced fat hamburgers before every fight, which made him a perfect candidate for the product. Boehm sent a prototype of the grill along with a cookbook to Foreman who at first did not want to try it but after his wife made him a burger on it he fell in love. The Success of the item can be shared equally between the unique features of the grill and of George’s enthusiasm for the product. This was proven in the one hundred million grills already sold. The Foreman grill has even made its way to Asia where it is promoted by Jackie Chan and George in infomercials. This is where George created his famous tagline “It’s so good I put my name on

The satirical and dystopian science-fiction short story, “Harrison Bergeron” written by Kurt Vonnegut Junior, is one where many Vietnamese immigrants and refugees may easily relate too. A central theme of this short story is that people may be restricted of their full potential and sometimes there are consequences of achieving true achieving true equality and embracing your freedom. I feel a connection to this theme for many of my family members including my own parents. Similar to the government’s intense actions that they imposed on Harrison Bergeron as stated indirectly by Kurt, “Nobody had ever born heavier handicaps.
