The statement by Sanger Rainsford “The world is made up of two classes the hunters and the huntees” means that there are people hunting and there are people who are being hunted. How I feel about the statement is that it is true that is what makes up this world but it is wrong to hunt for fun but right for survival. If you are hunting to find food that is okay but if it’s just to kill something then that is not right. From the book “The Most Dangerous Game” General Zaroff was an remarkable hunter he had hunted so many animals but he was bored of that and started hunting people who came upon his island. The main example from the book was that the General was a hunter and the people and Rainsford were the huntees. Richard said at the beginning
Hunting is a game where you can have fun killing a certain type of animal, but could be very dangerous at the same time. In “The Most Dangerous Game” Rainsford is a character that is a very good hunter. So one day him and his buddy's went out on a yacht and went out on the sea to go to the caribbean to look for this island to hunt Jaguars. But while on a yacht he feel of the boat and fell into the sea. Moving on he was on this Island and met this General.
Zaroff said, "I wanted the ideal animal to hunt," (3). Rainsford said no because he wanted to be a hunter not a murderer. He believes that humans have feelings unlike animals. Zaroff then decides to hunt him. Rainsford begins to experience what it 's like to be an
In the short stories “A Sound of Thunder” by Ray Bradbury and “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, both main characters are great, experienced and risky hunters. Travis from “A Sound of Thunder” takes people through a time machine back in time to hunt dinosaurs. General Zaroff from “The Most Dangerous Game” has found a new interest instead of hunting animals, and he now hunts people. Both of these stories involve hunting out of the ordinary things and show why each character chooses to do so. Although Travis and General Zaroff are both great, experienced hunters, they differ in the game they hunt, their attitudes towards others, and their motivation for shooting people.
Rainsford is initially shown to not show any empathy to the wild animals he hunts. Zaroff is no different, with him declaring, “I hunt the scum of the earth: sailors from tramp ships--lassars, blacks, Chinese, whites, mongrels,” (9). Zaroff hunts humans who have the unfortunate luck to arrive on Ship-Trap Island. Zaroff gives no second thought about hunting humans because he finds them to be the perfect sport to hunt, and finds pleasure in hunting them. In the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, the protagonist, Sanger Rainsford, and the antagonist, General Zaroff, are similar characters.
In the story General Zaroff says,”Some he makes kings, some beggars. Me, He made a hunter” (Connell Pg. 223). This quote shows that General Zaroff is definitely a hunter, he has been a hunter for his whole life. Also in the story it shows that Rainsford is a major and famous hunter. General Zaroff mentions how he read Rainsfords books on hunting the Snow Leopard.
Most people when they hear “The Most Dangerous Game” they think of bull riding or other dangerous games that don’t involve death. “The Most Dangerous Game” is a suspenseful cliff hanging story that follows the days of a castaway on the island of a crazed hunter. Rainsford is a big game hunter who falls off a boat near the island of General Zaroff, a big Cossack general who is looking for an alternative to hunting dangerous animals but with a twist. Throughout “The Dangerous Game” Rainsford and General Zaroff both show examples of IRony and exert arrogance.
General Zaroff is different, to say the least, in Richard Connell’s book, “The Most Dangerous Game.” Rainsford is stranded on a deserted island, or so he thinks. Rainsford comes upon a mansion that is owned by General Zaroff. He knows of Rainsford, who is a renowned author of a book about the hunt, as well as everything and everywhere Rainsford has hunted. General Zaroff is also a hunter, but he goes to the extreme.
“There are only two classes in the world: the hunter and the hunted.” This theme is expressed and questioned by the story The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell. But is that theme in the movie? Both the book and the movie The Most Dangerous Game are both about a man named Zaroff hunting the ¨most dangerous game¨; humans. Though the book and the movie have the same general plot, the integrity of the story is affected by the many differences and similarities in the areas of the initiating event, characterization, and plot between the story and the movie The Most Dangerous Game.
In Richard Connell's short story"The Most Dangerous Game," the protagonist Sanger Rainsford is selfish, unsympathetic, and cruel. In the beginning, Rainsford talks to Whitney about the prey’s, in this case, the animal's perspective while being hunted, like how they feel. Rainsford and Whitney butt heads. Rainsford’s philosophy is much like Zaroff's. Rainsford disagrees with Whitney, who believes that animals can comprehend the fear of pain and death.
In the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game,” the main character Rainsford had gotten stranded on a dangerous island where Zaroff, a Russian Cossack General, hunted humans for sport. He feels that God put the weak on earth to give the strong pleasure, and up until it was his turn to be hunted, so did Rainsford. Earlier in the story Rainsford had stated, “The world is made up of two classes-- the hunters and the huntees.” And as harsh as it may sound, it is technically correct. The world is made of hunters and huntees, predator and prey.
Being hunted is like day’s hours, your life only last for a short amount of time. A hunter by the name Rainsford fell overboard his yacht and was stranded on a island. Rainsford met this savage man named General Zaroff, who hunted unexpected game that Rainsford wasn’t ready for. Rainsford will not hunt again because after being hunted and chased around in the woods by a savage-like man, he knows the feeling and the terror that the animal that’s being hunted feels.
people are in pain. In the text this is shown when it says “he saw the lean figure of General Zaroff just ahead of him Rainsford made out another figure.. It was the giant Ivan. General Zaroff was still on his but Ivan was not” (pg.53). This shows General Zaroff is selfish because he made I van go first which had killed him.
What is external conflict? External conflict is a struggle outside of a character. A commonly used example of external conflict is exhibited in the story of Cinderella. She was stuck in the household of her evil stepmother, and was not allowed to leave her home. Cinderella wanted to attend a ball; however, her stepmother would not let her go.
Hunters believe animals are not capable of reasoning and they see them as something lesser than humans. Throughout time, these positions can change. The short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” written by Richard Connell, consists of General Zaroff being the hunter and Rainsford being the hunted. During the story, their positions change to the complete opposite.
They both need to accomplish a different goal to pursue. The statement makes sense because the hunters have a different view on the game than the huntees. The hunters need to know what to do when to hunt, and how to hunt. Many hunters have different ways of hunting.
