Gary Ridgway was born on February 18, 1949 to Thomas Newton and Mary Rita Ridgway. He was the middle child of 3 boys. He was a quiet boy who didn’t have many friends. He grew up in a violent environment and also wet the bed until he was 14 years old. He had inappropriate feelings towards his mother, yet also hated her and dreamed of killing her.
Gary Ridgway is a caucasian male who was 32 years old during his first murder and possibly 50 years old during his last. When he was a kid he took an IQ test and scored an 82. When Ridgway was a teenager he stabbed a 6 year old boy in the middle of the woods. He walked away laughing and told the boy: “I always wondered what it’d be like to kill someone.” No one knew of this event besides the boy and Ridgway, so no one could have suspected that he would have been a serial killer in the future.
Ridgway performed poorly in high school and graduated from Tyee High School at the age of 20.

All of his victims were either female prostitutes or female runaways. He killed all his victims by violent strangulation and had sexual intercourse with them before and after he killed them. He knew none of his victims and almost always let them come to him by pretending he was having car troubles, luring them with his son, and simply because they were mainly prostitutes so they would approach him for a “date”. Ridgway dumped all his victims in the Green River until it was under surveillance, he then disposed of the bodies in remote areas in the woods of Seattle Washington and surrounding areas. He never planned his murders, he would randomly pick up the prostitutes after leaving his work shifts or early in the morning before them. Whenever Ridgway has been asked why he murdered all those women he always responds by saying “because I wanted to, they were worthless pieces of

Is it necessary for a serial killer to have a dark past? There have been many serial killers in the history of humanity, and “inhumanity” (as some like to describe those who have the heart to kill another human) over the time. However, in the history of serial killers, there is not another like Ed Gein, “The Plainfield Ghoul”. He was known with this peculiar and sinister nickname because he grew up on a farm a few miles outside of the town of Plainfield, Wisconsin where he exhumed corpses, body-snatched, and assassinated. Although very mentioned and feared when people hear his name, with fewer than three murders attributed, it is said that Ed Gein does not meet the traditional definition of a Serial killer.
Gary Ridgway pleads not guilty to four counts of aggravated murder. In November of 2003 prosecutors offer Ridgway a plea deal eliminating the death penalty if he plead guilty to 48 murders. He grew up tough and only getting tougher, Utley wrote about how The Kid would kill and abandon the guilt like nothing since he’d killed basically as he pleased anyway. No matter where he was he always found himself trying to clear his slate with the law. Henry McCarty or Billy Booney, he was always as ruthless as he used to
Dennis Rader—self-proclaimed the “BTK Killer”—is a serial killer responsible for ten murders in Wichita, Kansas from 1974 to 1991. Rader’s childhood seemed normal, and he lived a relatively average life as an adult. He blended into his community as a government employee, church leader, and Boy Scout troop leader. This seemingly picturesque life allowed him to execute his killings without initial suspicion. He murdered various people through selection, stalking, and finally killing them in their homes.
Over the span of six years from 1972-1978 John Jr had murdered and raped thirty-three young males. John Wayne Gacy’s first victim he claimed was, “this killing was unintentional, committed in the mistaken belief the youth intended to attack him with a knife from his kitchen” (Cahill, 1986, p. 349). John Wayne Gacy Jr after tasting what it was like to murder someone, continued over the next six years. Except John Jr could not control himself and ended up escalating in his crimes.
Individuals who have never committed a serious crime might frequently wonder what motivates or causes such criminal behavior. When crimes involving murder hit the media, you can't help but wonder if murderers are born or whether their surrounding environment fosters their development. During 1967–1978, John Wayne Gacy became a very recognized name. Gacy, also known as the “Killer Clown,” was a notorious American serial killer. He was given this nickname because in the public eye, he was a clown that entertained at parties but behind closed doors, he was a criminal.
He classified his victims as "coastal kills.” both male and female, whom he killed only for pleasure, he did this approximately once every six weeks. He tortured and mutilated his victims, while attempting to keep them alive for as long as possible. He confessed to killing these victims using a variety of methods including stabbing, suffocation, mutilation, and even claimed to have cannibalized some of them. He later confessed to killing "eighty to ninety" such victims although his claims to have committed any "coastal kills" have never been corroborated.
On the other hand, they suspected Ridgway for a while but never had enough evidence to arrest him besides that he cooperated with the
The combination of an overactive sex drive, antisocial personality disorder, and his attraction to his mother all were contributing factors to Garry’s killing spree. Gary attempted his first murder at the age of 16. He led a six year old boy into the woods
"They were just a bunch of worthless little queers and punks." (John Wayne Gacy, 1978) “I’ve had photos of 21 of the victims and I’ve looked at them all over the years here and I’ve never recognized anyone of them." (John Wayne Gacy, year unknown) He called a random person and persuaded them to drink alcohol. After they have been close, he always used a “trick” which he said that he is going to do a magic show.
He was quiet and shy. His familial situation was a big contributor to his psychosis. In 1946 he began stalking and abducting victims in Plainfield. The first believed to be Victor Travis, the only man known to be killed by Ed Gein. Next was Evelyn Hartley, 15, her body was never found.

Ted Bundy was a notorious serial murderer who’s reign of terror lasted from 1974 to 1978. Bundy was convicted of three homicides and was sentenced to death for all three charges. However, at the time of his execution, Bundy confessed to 30 murders however the exact number of victims is still unknown. Bundy’s crimes evolved over time but he was both a sexual sadist and a necrophiliac serial killer. At the beginning of his rampage, Bundy would sneak into the victims house in the middle of the night, violently attack them while they were sleeping with a blunt object and then Bundy would usually sexually assault them.
The very first murder he was linked to would have been the first one he would of committed. This murder took place in Santa Barbara on June 4th, 1963. The young victims were couple Robert Domingos and his betrothed Linda Edwards. The couple had decided to participate in their senior ditch day, so they went sunbathing at a beach near Gaviota State Park. When they didn’t return by the next morning, Robert’s father went looking for them.
