Gang violence is running rampnd across the nation. Just last week over two hundred cases of gang violence were recorded. As a nation, we can’t stand for this any longer. This is getting out of hand and it puts the public in danger. Now I have created a novel solution to this problem. I call this solution “The Hunger Gangs.” We shall create an arena. A city scape that would be familiar to many gang members. I propose that Chicago be evacuated and we use Chicago to stage this great clash. There’s a few reasons why Chicago would be perfect for this. One being that it’s layout would be familiar to gangs like the Bloods and the Cripps. Second, What use is Chicago anyway? It’s not like any Business tycoons come from the Windy City, and over half
In order to put an end to gang violence in the community law enforcement should tackle the problem from the source, including the leaders and their right hand man. Get inside information about what they are about to do , when and where. Put a man on the inside that can get both information and also get to see the action first hand. Having an informant on the inside would allow law enforcement to have an eyes on the leader and their right hand mans. It would allow law enforcement to have an eye on all the action thats is happening on the inside.
This supports a couple of other claims in the exhibit about the gang problem being more than just a Chicago problem. I mean, they were bootlegging, so they would need to impede in areas where transport took place. If there was a dispute or a misunderstanding, and someone was killed, that could easily create a nasty situation for a small town or village. This is key to getting the larger scope of how massive the problem was. “During the 1920's, death by alcohol was very common.
The fourth time period the author looked was gangs in times of mass incarceration. During the incarceration times street gangs have been more assimilated into prison gangs. Many of the youth do not want the older men controlling them so they rebel. As the street gang's youths went to prison they had to join with the prison gangs or risked of being attacked. The street gangs and prison gangs unify which means that the collective association is close and have more resources. .
Greg Boyle once said “You can’t reason with gang violence: you can’t talk to it, sit it at a table, and negotiate with it.” A big problem with the US educational system is that they don’t do anything to stop gangs in school. The gangs inside the school and outside the school are constantly influencing the students making them more violent and aggressive against each other and teachers. In the memoir, Holler If You Can Hear Me By Gregory Michie, Michie and his students face gang problems inside and outside the school.
The idea of a biker gang in the 21st century seems insane. How are there “turf” wars? Hasn’t all of the turf in the USA been divided, divvied, and assigned? Not the case, according to the article America’s Biker Gangs published by TheWeek.com. The article, published in June of 2015, details the history, growth, and continued issues associated with the deadly gangs in the US.
The city of Memphis is in need of a program that will reduce the amount of gang violence present within the community. The City Council is having a difficult time proposing a program without the essential expertise, that’s where I come in. The intervening variables of the program must be revealed in order to propose a program that will be both effective and beneficiary. By understanding the variables that could possibly have a positive or negative affect on a program and its participants will result in a higher probability of success.
The new development in progression today shows the idea of how marketable land around the city is and how diverse neighborhoods cause for better funding and better relationships between people of different ethnicities and cultures. Even though the Chicago Race Riots was a negative event, over the years its effects became positive. As a result of all the looting and burning down businesses, it gave the developers a chance to integrate new business ideas and housing plans to help advance the community in the future. This is one of the major historical events used today as a lesson taught to students to eliminate
While walking through La Paz Middle School on June 8,2014, Salinas High School student, Daniel Castillo was shot by two Sureno Gang members and left to die. He was due to graduate from high school at the end of summer school. Instead, he died that afternoon (Adami par.1). A shame that Castillo was fatally shot that afternoon many believe that the two gang members should be given stiffer penalties but that is not the solution. When viewed from the outside many believe gang members should receive much tougher penalties; however, stiffer penalties only increase recidivism rates, whereas the focus must be focused on rehabilitation in order to end gang crime.
In the United States, every year there are around 2,000 gang-related homicides and in the realistic fiction novel, The Outsiders, by S.E Hinton, it explores the issues of gang violence, and teenagers in gangs. Around 40% of all members in gangs are teenagers, who are getting involved in some dangerous things very early in life. In the novel The Outsiders, the “Greasers” which is a gang of all teenagers, fight other gangs and commit serious crimes such as murder. We as a society need to pinpoint why teenagers join gangs and stop them beforehand. We also need to help people get out of gangs if they are already in one.
The problem that faces most of Chicago's violent neighborhoods is that they have never been able to truly recover from the gang activity from the 1900´s. These factors has given Chicago the nickname of Chi-raq for it’s vast amount of violent
Victor M. Rios was born in Mexico. When he was two years old he immigrated with his mother to Oakland, California. He went through a tough childhood and he and his mother moved several times throughout poor neighborhoods such as West Oakland, The Fruitvale District, and Elmhurst. As a result of growing up in this kind of environments he was forced to be part of Latino East Oakland gangs. Stealing cars, selling drugs, getting into street fights and having problems with police was all he would do until he was 15 years old.
They examine current gang management strategies and see what works and does not. They completed their research by survey. “First, according to the respondents, inmate containment and sanctions were perceived to be very effective at managing gangs…. The second strategy is based on investigations, which if successful, also increases the costs of being affiliated with a STG through internal and external sanctions… Last, respondents placed great value on using the products of these investigations through intelligence sharing within their prison system, other correctional systems, and with law enforcement (Winterdyk & Ruddell,p. 734.
Gangs attributes to almost 90 percent of all gun violence in Chicago (Saul, Newsweek). Because gangs attribute to such a large amount of gun violence they should be the number one priority for Chicago’s police. One such tactic that could potentially make a substantial difference in reducing the amount of murders that happen is hot spot policing. Hot spot policing is not a new tactic in any way however it has proven to be affective. Hot spot policing is a practice in which small areas with a high concentration of crime that occurs frequently is targeted and focused on more heavily then it would be under normal circumstances (Hot spot policing, National Institute of Justice).
Chicago and other major cities remain in the news, as they continue to struggle with high murder rates. In fact, the city of Chicago has witnessed a 50 percent increase in its murder rate in only a one year period, and this area is not alone. Thankfully, cities across America and noticing violent and property crime rates remain at historic lows. The new adminstration has noted the increase in murder rates, but needs to also consider that other crimes on are the decline, which is always a good thing.
Throughout the 17th-century gangs have been causing havoc in people's life and destroying the society. The National Institute of Justice (2011) has defined a gang as "A group of collective members which create an atmosphere of intimidation among citizens. " Many of these gangs are well organized, using different forms of violence to control neighbourhoods and to conduct their illegal activities. The National Gang Threat Assessment (2011) reports that “Gangs are responsible for an average of 48 percent of violent crime in most jurisdictions.” Street Gangs have caused incidences of violence that is confined in the inner city of many countries.
