Friar Lawrence To Blame In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet

Sarah Addison Allen once said, “Men of thoughtless actions are always surprised by consequences”. Similarly, in William Shakespeare’s play, “Romeo and Juliet”, Friar Lawrence’s thoughtless actions are later surprised with problems. The Friar is to blame for the deaths of the lovers due to his lack of knowledge in considering future problems, his deceitful decisions for the lovers, and sending important information to an undependable individual. Through observing these points, it will be seen that Friar Lawrence is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.

In addition he wrote a letter not thinking about the problems of the plan. Friar Lawrence is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Because Friar Lawrence chose to marry them. He didn’t have to marry them, so they didn’t have to be together.

Some might argue that Friar Lawrence should take the blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, but he was only doing what they asked of him. The Friar was only trying to help people for the better. In Act 2, Scene 3, the Friar agrees to marrying Romeo and Juliet in hopes of ending the feud. He thinks that these two might have a chance at bringing the two families together and to stop the chaos. He was concerned on marrying them, but dreamed of what could happen in the end.

In the play “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet” the prince states that someone will be punished for Romeo and Juliet’s death, and in my eyes, I foresee that Friar Lawrence is going to get blamed dur to his elaborate plans and making them keep fighting. For example, why would Friar Lawrence let Romeo and Juliet if he knew that neither of the parents would have allowed it. “Come, come with me, and we will make short work. For, by your leaves, you shall not stay alone Till holy church incorporate two in one.” That connects to my first claim because it shows how willingly and fast he wanted to get them married so they can have some alone time.

Juliet is to blame because she could have married Paris and still been alive, her father is to be blamed because he was forcing Juliet to marry Paris and saying he was gonna cast her out if she refused, lastly Friar Lawrence is to blame because he is the one who gave Juliet the potion to make her fall asleep , married them in secret and also failed to get the letters sent to Romeo. Oh poor Juliet but if she had listened to her mother she would still be alive. Juliet could have easily married Paris and everything would of turned out fine.

The key reason that Friar Lawrence is at fault for the death of Romeo and Juliet is because he was the priest that married the young couple, and kept their unbreakable love a secret. They came to the priest asking for a life together and pure serenity, in which resulted in a catastrophic death. To support my claim, Friar Lawrence is the primary target because of the secrets he kept from everyone. Friar lawrence should have never agreed to marry Romeo and Juliet.

Friar Lawrence was trying to be helpful. The first reason that Friar Lawrence was to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet was because he was the one that married them in the first place. When Romeo approached Friar Lawrence seeing if Friar could marry Romeo and Juliet (Shakespeare 846), Friar thought that it would end the family feud between the Montagues and the Capulets. He didn’t take the time to think about what the horrible consequences could’ve been. He was being selfish in this situation due to the fact that he just wanted people to be happy with each other, making the area more happy.

In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Friar Lawrence is the most responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet with his poor judgment and planning, marrying a young couple who knew each other for only a couple hours, providing Juliet with a dangerous potion, and failing to notify Romeo of the dangerous plan putting him in danger. First, Friar Lawrence agrees to marry a couple with the knowledge that they have only known each other for a couple hours when he says, “In one respect I’ll thy assistant be; For this alliance may so happy prove to turn your households’ rancor to pure love” (II.III.90-92). Friar Lawrence agrees to marry the two believing it will help the feud between the two families. This is a rather poor decision on his part

Who is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? The play Romeo and Juliet was written by Shakespeare who wrote many plays, poems, and shorts stories. Friar Laurence and Nurse should be the most to blame for Romeo and Juliet's death. Friar Laurence made a great plan, and had everything already worked out. Friar Laurence made one flaw.

In act 2, Romeo asks the Friar to marry him and Juliet. Instead of weighing the consequences, the Friar agrees to marry the couple in hopes it will unify the Capulet and Montague families. “For this alliance may so happy probe to turn your households' rancor to pure love” (Shakesphere act 2 scene 3). This example shows that Friar Lawrence only recognized how the marriage would benefit the families of Romeo and Juliet. The Friar failed to recognize the issues that would occur if he married the couple.

People may argue that it was not Friar Lawrence’s fault because the was only trying to help the desperate couple get married. Even though he was only trying to help the still clearly still caused mayhem. “Hold, daughter. I do spy a kind of hope, which craves as desperate an execution”       (IV, i, 68-69)      Friar Lawrence has a lot of hope to help Romeo and Juliet even though it takes a turn for worst.

The person most responsible for Romeo and Juliet's death is Lord Capulet for forcing Juliet to Marry Paris when she was already married to Romeo, but some may argue it's Friar Lawrence because he gave Juliet the potion. The person most to blame is Lord Capulet because he forced Juliet to marry Paris without Juliet's consent, which ultimately led to Juliet's death.

If Friar didn’t marry them it would of not started the chain reactions of events that occur next. The play ends with three tragic deaths; those including being Romeo and Juliet. Friar Laurence is mostly to blame for the tragic events in Romeo and Juliet, because of he did things in secret, not communicating clearly, and not executing his plans. The first reason why Friar Laurence is to blame is because he married Romeo and Juliet.

Friar Lawrence didn’t want to marry Romeo and Juliet, he knew they were rushing the marriage, but he married them anyway to try and stop the feud between the Capulets and Montagues. Romeo and Juliet rushed into their marriage and because of that there were many consequences after. One consequence is when Friar
