The Friar is mostly to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he let the two marry. Due to this it created tension between others and led to the deaths of Tylbat and Mercutio.

Romeo and Juliet’s deaths were not just one person’s fault; many people contributed to how they ended up dying. Even though these people did not kill them physically, they are still a part of the reason they died. The person who contributed to this matter but still did not have much effect was the nurse; she talked badly about Romeo, which set off Juliet. The next person who was most at fault but not the most was Tybalt; he caused a scene with Romeo, which started the whole Romeo leaving situation. The person who was most at fault was Friar Lawrence; even though he married them and wanted the best for them, he was still a big part of the reason they died.

The Capulets are responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death, but Friar Lawrence also contributed to their deaths. The Capulet's decision to eventually marry their daughter, Juliet to Paris ultimately caused her death. “Well start thinking about marriage now… The crux of the matter is that the honorable Paris has asked for your hand in marriage” (1.3.75).

Well, I believe that Friar Lawrence, the parents of Juliet( capulet and lady capulet), and the family feud in general caused the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. As they arrange a marriage behind everyone’s back, everything seems to be testing them; including a fight that broke out and ended in Tybalt’s murder and Romeo being banished from his hometown, Verona. Juliet could not go without being with her love, Romeo, and quickly had to find a way to be with him before her other marriage that her father arranged for her took place. As the friar arranges a plan for the two star-crossed lovers to reunite, things don’t work out the way they’re supposed to and end in the deaths of both characters. There are many characters to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, and yet only one holds most of the responsibility for it. Romeo and Juliet both died by suicide after finding out the other died. They were young lovers, who met less than 24 hours before their marriage. The same person who married them, is at blame for their deaths. Friar Lawrence.

Friar Laurence is saying he would marry him and Juliet. He thinks that both households are going to get along after Romeo and Juliet are married. He has to keep the marriage private because later on in the play, Lord Capulet forces the marriage between Paris and Juliet and he didn’t want anyone knowing that he is marrying Juliet twice especially with Romeo who had killed Tybalt.

The first reason why Friar Laurence is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet is because he married them in secret. After Romeo and Juliet fell in love, they asked for Friar Laurence to marry them in secret. Because he did, both families did not know about the marriage and the Capulet's tried to marry off Juliet. Desperate to avoid the marriage, Romeo and Juliet would both end up dying in a failed plan to end the marriage. If the marriage had been revealed to both families, it may have acted as a bridge between the two families to end the feud without further bloodshed.

This ultimately resulted in the deaths of Romeo and Juliet at the fault of Friar Laurence. To begin, one way that the blame for the deaths of Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet can be placed on Friar Lawrence is the fact that he is the one who officiated the marriage in the first place. Had he not done this, and simply went straight to their parents and reported them as he should have, it would be highly likely that they would have just separated since their parents knew about the relationship. He bears little to no responsibility in the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Despite his misguided actions, the friar only had good intentions with the action to marry the lovers. “For this alliance may so happy prove To turn your households’ rancor to pure love” (2.3.98-99). This quote clearly shows that he believed their marriage would end the vendetta of the two families and bring peace to Verona.
