Friar Laurence is responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet. He shall be convicted for the deaths of these young children because there is strong evidence and overwhelming support to blame Friar. First of all, the Friar never should of married Romeo and Juliet without their parent’s consent. Even though the friar had good intentions, it was a bad idea. The Friar new it was a bad idea because he said, “But come, young waverer, come, go with me, In one respect I’ll thy assistant be…” This means that the friar will help Romeo with his secret wedding.

Friar Lawrence was the one to blame throughout the entire story. Although Friar Lawrence was just trying to help throughout the whole story, he was just causing problems that led to Romeo and Juliets death. The one problem was just miscommunication between Friar Lawrence, Friar John, and Romeo. “Who bar my letter, then, to Romeo?”(S.S, pg. 470).

As they arrange a marriage behind everyone’s back, everything seems to be testing them; including a fight that broke out and ended in Tybalt’s murder and Romeo being banished from his hometown, Verona. Juliet could not go without being with her love, Romeo, and quickly had to find a way to be with him before her other marriage that her father arranged for her took place. As the friar arranges a plan for the two star-crossed lovers to reunite, things don’t work out the way they’re supposed to and end in the deaths of both characters. From my first thoughts, Friar Laurence is looked upon as a respectable, and trustworthy man. We, as the readers, know that he does not have these qualities. In William Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Friar Laurence is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Laurence is to blame because he pushed Romeo and Juliet to get married, he was unable to get the letter to Romeo on time, and he gave Juliet a potion that put her to sleep for 42 hours. Doing that tricked everyone into thinking she was dead.

He was trained to be kind, responsible, and believe in humility, but one of the Friar’s biggest issues was his ego and his lack of following through. He thought that he was the only person smart enough to make peace between the two feuding houses. He thought that marrying Romeo and Juliet would automatically make peace and when it didn't, he makes up a plan that could had fixed the families and saved their children if he had executed it correctly. He was so pleased that he made a plan that seemed infallible, he sent away a letter to Romeo explaining his idea and not to worry if you hear about juliet dying because she is just under a sleeping potion, But He did say of the urgency of the letter to the deliver and it doesn't get sent in time. Meanwhile Juliet is alone in a tomb with nobody watching her, The Friar should had been there making sure she was safe.

Throughout the play, Friar Laurence has a tendency to make the wrong decision when it comes to Romeo and Juliet. Which relates to the death and downfall of the star cross lovers. For example, Friar Laurence in Act 5, scene 3 lines 267-268 here is how: Friar Laurence states “Miscarried by my fault, let my old life/ Be sacrificed, some hour before his time,” meaning that he knows he made some bad decisions and that he is at fault. It follows that Friar Laurence is the ultimate cause of the tragedy because he made some bad choices.

He conjures up a ridiculous plan when Romeo gets banished from Verona to allow Juliet to meet him in secret. We will explore all of the flaws in this plan and how it affected Romeo and Juliet. If Friar Laurence had taken more time to think through his plans and managed to put a stop to said plans once the situation became too complex, he could have saved the lives of Romeo and Juliet.
