Frank Lucas, a young boy from La Grange North Carolina grew up dirt poor living with his mother and father. Growing up less fortunate his plan was to get rich so that he can take care of his family. After witnessing the death of his cousin he was no longer the same. Frank started robbing and stealing to support his family. Later in life he became a drug kingpin by learning the ins and outs of the drug business from Bumpy Johnson. When Bumpy passed there was no one left to control the streets of Harlem, so Frank took matters into his own hands. Frank knew in order to become the man in charge he would have to break the monopoly of the Italian Mafia; that's exactly what he did. He did this by creating a direct relationship with the dealer of the drugs, and eliminating the middleman. Frank knew he could take over and run the streets of New York, so Frank began traveling to different places networking to find a connect. Frank traveled to Bangkok, Thailand, and “eventually made his way to Jack’s American Star Bar, an R&R hangout for black soldiers ” (Biography.com). Frank met with U.S. Army sergeant Leslie Ike Atkinson, who happened to be married to one of his cousins from North Carolina. Atkinson and Frank became close and good business partners. They travelled for about two weeks through Thailand until Atkinson located his main connection and business partner Luetchi Rubiwat, who was in charge of the poppy fields. “Rubiwat also known by ‘007’ controlled several hundred acres of poppy fields in the Golden Triangle, a dense jungle area in the borders of Thailand, Burma, and Laos” (Biography.com). However, he wasn't the flamboyant type he liked to dress casually, so he wouldn't attract as much attention. In fact, after his wife bought him a $50,000 chinchilla and a $10,000 hat to match he caught the attention of Richard Roberts, the head prosecutor of the Special Narcotics Task Force in New Jersey. Richard started to investigate Frank. The investigation continued over a lengthy period of time until the SNTF, a DEA strike-force staged a surprise raid on Franks house in Teaneck, New Jersey on January 28, 1975. Although Frank was out of town at the time they recovered $584,000 in cash, keys to several Cayman Island safe-deposit boxes, property deeds, a ticket to the United Nations ball, and compliments of the ambassador of Honduras. However, Frank was very well known and had lots of connections so they couldn't pin anything concerning drugs against him. In a short period of time 10 people were arrested but they still couldn't tie Frank back to any drug operation until his nephew broke the code of secrecy and started giving up information about the location of where drugs were being sold. Richard gathered enough evidence to take Frank to trial, and at trial the jury turned in a guilty verdict and he was sentenced to 70 years in prison. Now this man's family was huge and my family is huge so that's how i relate to him. His family supported slavery so when the Civil War happened, Frank went and signed up for the Confederate soldier he was only 18 years old. His way of killing was a newer way it was called guerrilla warfare. He would surprise his enemy’s, coming out of nowhere and killing them, I don’t know if that's just me but that is awesome.

He was married to Mae Josephine Coughlin and had a son named Albert Francis (Sonny) Capone. Capone first became involved with smaller gangs that including the Bowery Boys and Junior Forty Thieves.
The 1920s were filled with gangs and many changes in society. One of the those changes was the addition of the 18th. The 18th amendment was ratified January 16, 1919. It created something called prohibition which outlawed the distribution, production, and use of alcohol. Despite the law, people still continued to drink alcohol in places called speakeasies.
Soon after he began studying for a trade and at the same time he stole cars to sell for parts. In 1979 a friend introduced him to the drug trade, he soon realized how much money he was making and went on to creating his organization by the age of 19 years old. He soon began to do business with some Nicaraguans, they would supply the him with the drugs and he would pay them back in return. Ross also saw the potential of selling crack cocaine in areas like compton, the drug was much cheaper and so people with less financial status was able to buy the drug of him. He would continue to expand his operation outside of Los Angeles to cities like Atlanta, New York, and Detroit.
Trying to raise funds to support his mother he started working for lower level gangsters. When he was 17 he was arrested for burglary and served 17 months in Blackwell island prison. Dutch began to bootleg at first he did it for small bars in the area. But he eventually started a huge empire in New York bootlegging
Frank’s mom’s name is Mahee Jone Lucas and his dad name is Fred Lucas. Frank’s childhood was not always so bad. He was a county boy who grew up in Rural, North Carolina during the great depression. He spent his early youth watching siblings and getting in trouble. It all started when lucas was about six.
In Massachusetts, Whitey Bulger is a household name. Whitey Bulger was a mafia legend, notorious drug smuggler and in the 1970s and 1980s, he was the hero of South Boston. Bulger took control of the infamous Southie Winter Hill Gang in 1965, and slowly began to control all crime rings within South Boston (Padnani). At the height of his reign, Bulger committed countless murders, armed robberies and moved literal tons of drugs onto the streets of Boston. Before his arrest, Bulger was on the FBI’s most wanted list (Padnani).
While Capone was drunk, he was driving and then he hit a parked taxi cab. Which got him arrested. When Torrio found out, he got him off quickly as possible by using his city government connections. After being kicked out he eventually found Johnny Torrio who would change Al Capone’s life forever. He helped Jonny run drugs to woman to anything illegal. During one of his escapades Capone met another gangster who was from the opposite side of town who cut Capone’s left cheek and left a long scar. Which eventually he got his name Scarface. Torrio Eventually moved to Chicago to run a whorehouse in 1909.
Al Capone was a very powerful leader and an all around mastermind. Capone was raised around gangs in the city when he moved there from Naples and joined one in his teens called Johnny Torrio’s James Street Boys ran by Johnny Torrio. Later, he moved on to the Five Points Gang, which he graduated from. He got into a gang fight and someone cut his face with a razor hence the nickname “Scarface” (Grossman). When Torrio entered a brothel business he sent for Capone to be a bouncer at the saloon.
Manuel Noriega and Frank Lucas are both drug dealers but have many similarities and differences on how they get things done. Gangs had also become a big part of the 1920’s, they had a lot of say in went on round the towns they lived in. Gangs had a lot of control of how liquor got in and out of their towns “It was smuggled in from the seas off both the east and west coasts and brought overland from both Canada and Mexico.” (McNeill). Everyday people would smuggle liquor in from all over if it was hard to find by them. They would sell it to family and friends all over and speaks did the same thing.
