Frank Lloyd Wright is commemorated as the America’s most honored architect. He was born in Richland Center, Wisconsin on June 8th, 1867 and he died on April 9th, 1959. Shortly after finishing his college studies, he turned to be the chief assistant of Louis Sullivan, also known as the “father of skyscrapers”. Later on, he decided to establish his own business and developed an “organic architecture” approach called Prairie school. This lead to generate architectural designs mainly for commercial constructions and homes. Throughout his seventy-year career he produced over one-thousand designs but not all of them were built.
The African American inventor I decided to do a report on is Lloyd Hall. He was not only a black inventor but he also a chemist. Lloyd Hall received his Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University in 1914, a Master of Science from Northwestern in 1916, and a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) from Virginia State College in 1944. He also served as chief chemist for John Morrel and Company of Ottuma, Illinois (1919-1921) and became President of the Chemical Products Corporation, Chicago from 1921 to 1924.
Jefferson hated English architecture and wanted to create a style unique to North America. What better way, than to start this vision with his own estate? Jefferson was a gentleman architect and is considered one of the greatest of all time, as though he carried himself as a professional. Even had he never entered political life, Jefferson would be remembered today as one of the earliest proponents of neoclassical architecture in the United States. Jefferson believed art was a powerful tool; it could elicit social change, could inspire

With the fair came many new ideas for the type of buildings that are built today. The fair gave way and inspired much of the urban city we see in the city of Chicago today. The buildings built during the fair “was not merely a matter of style, by something that reflected and directed the character of those who lived within it” (Sigur). When the building were planned out , before the fair , the architects wanted it to reflect a new utopian city. Therefore, it reflected those who lived in the city because modernization was happening during the time , thus people wanted more affluent way of life
Luis Sevilla For: Dr. Stephens History 1301 42T 12 October 2015 Review #2 Does Thomas Jefferson come across as a great man, or a petty one? That is all based on opinion. From the little that is taught about Thomas Jefferson he comes across as a great man. Jefferson is not only known as a founding father he is also a big symbol in American History
Thomas Jefferson was a man of contradictions whose biggest one was his attitude towards slavery. He was one of the loudest abolitionists yet he never freed his own slaves. The reasoning behind this was that he was deeply in debt and could never seem to get ahead of his payments. Originally, he had plans to have his slaves freed after his death, but his debts made that financial infeasible for his heir (Johnson, 248).
Who was Samuel Adams? Was he a Patriot? Was he a founding father? Was he a Son of Liberty? The answer is all of the above.
Alexander Hamilton (2004) is a detailed true story of one of the most important figures in American history. It is based on Hamilton’s early life. As a politician, as a revolutionary war hero, and the first treasury secretary, Hamilton dedicated his life and intellect to unifying and strengthening the United States. Hamilton in truth did perhaps more than any other one person to secure the power of the American Union. Though he was never president, he was a hero deemed as a true founding father, title he kept till his death.
John was the 2nd president of the United States. But the first Vice President. He was in office from March 4 1797 March 4 1801. His Vice President was Thomas Jefferson.
The architecture I chose is the Biltmore Estates, located in Ashville, North Carolina. The main architect of the Biltmore Estates was Richard Morris Hunt, hired on by George Vanderbilt. Mr. Vanderbilt fell in love with North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains and decided to purchase 125,000 acres surrounding the location where the 250-room home would be built. Richard Morris Hunt designed the house, replicating working estates of Europe, especially those of the French Renaissance style. Rafael Guastavino constructed the arched, fireproof tile ceilings.
INTRODUCTION The idea of the American Modernist houses came from European architects (Spark 2008:186; Jordi 1963:177-187) that developed European theories of Modernism in the United States. Therefore architects like Philip Johnson, played a major role in introducing the works of Mies van der Rohe, Walter Gropius or Le Corbusier into the American society and architecture (Goldberger 2005). This Modernist built structures were characterized by the “open-planning and transparency and commitment to the spatial continuity between the outsides and the insides of the building” (Spark 2008:141). In addition, Modernist architects embraced the idea of the standardization of objects by means of mass production, that would produce exact replicas of items.
For instance, a Canadian American architect named Frank Gehry , designed the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, which is a great example of contemporary modern architecture. It was established around 1997 on October 18th. This design is considered as very bold and innovative, it is different. The style of building falls under the Deconstructivism architectural movement, which began in the 1980’s. It was also known as the masterpiece of the 20th century, an architect named Philip Johnson said that this building was “the greatest building of our
orothy Draper was an American interior designer, living from November 1889 to March 1969. Draper was known for her anti-minimalist or somewhat extravagant style, as she liked to use bright, exuberant colors with large prints that covered whole walls. The interiors that Draper designed often featured black and white tiles, rococo scroll-work and even some baroque plaster-work; creating an image now considered to represent the Hollywood Regency style of interior design. Draper was born into an aristocratic family named Tuckerman, in one of the most privileged communities in American history, Tuxedo Park in New York. This was only one of the family’s homes, as Draper spent her time in the Manhattan town house as well as a summer cottage in Newport,
