Movies can illustrate something beyond being fun to watch, it can teach us many educational lessons. In Finding Dory, it demonstrates many educational tools, as well as many points related to the grade 9 Science curriculum particularly in the Ecology unit.
How is the film an educational tool?
- Finding Dory teaches us moral lessons on the importance of family. Ex: Dory is determined to find her family throughout this entire movie when remembering small flashbacks on her adventure.
- It teaches kids not to view people on their conditions. For example, Dory had suffered from short time memory loss and the other small species have made fun of her by continuously saying, “why do you keep forgetting things Dory”, opposed to helping her and feel no sympathy for her.
- Furthermore, to always stay close with your parents in order to never get in a situation where you become lost. Ex: Dory wanders off

How it related to the Grade 9 Science Curriculum?
Finding Dory relates to the Grade 9 Science Curriculum in a numerous amount of ways:
- Aquatic ecosystems - Throughout this film you can the many different types of species and how there are different ways species survive in different areas. Ex: Some animals need to be deeper in the ocean like the sharks whereas sea lions live on the land but extremely close to the water (light availability).
- Humans decomposing. Ex: When Dory was stuck to the garbage of the can holder, which shows how we humans need to stop polluting the aquatic ecosystems by throwing disposable waste.
- Environmental Issues: Ex: When the sea lion informs to the clown fishes that they need to stay away from their habitat due to safety on their ecosystem.
- Another example would be how Dory was put from a natural habit to an artificial habitat, which has an effect on the aquatic species.
How the film reinforces concepts that have been taught throughout the Ecology

The film uses rhetorical strategies such as pathos, ethos, and logos to make this movie bring emotions, blank stares, and leave the audience to question reality. The purpose of the specific camera shots and angles is to provide an appropriate view of the movie. Lastly, the use of persuasion to allow the audience to interpret what the film says versus the thoughts in their head. The film does a good job of pointing out the flaws in our system and a specific culture that the flaws
It’s also a good thing to make the environment become better. To always follow the progress, in every year, the main character comes to the place where salmon spawn and doing research with her team to protect salmon species before more hazardous to their lives and help this species escape the
Ocean Pollution DBQ Did you know that every year, eight million metric tons of plastic is dumped or somehow ends up in the ocean (Doc. 1)? The following sentences will talk about what people are doing to pollute the oceans and how they are making the pollution better. Humans are the biggest threat to animals in the ocean because they litter so much (OI). Sometimes, people litter without even knowing they're littering.
Ultimately, showing that humans strive to judge people that have wronged them and care for people that have been nice or are close to
The kids look up to those adults and learn things they teach them and eventually mature from what they learned from the adults or different things they did that were hard. Kids grow up by doing more challenging
What are the geographic threats of the area? I also showed a video that showed pictures of the biomes to music. They loved the video because the pictures were beautiful. After two days of discussing all the biomes the students were broken into groups and told they were travel agents. They had to “sell” their biome and make the rest of the class
It allowed them to enjoy, feel free, and obtain comfort by giving them the chance to explore, learn new stuff,

By having a better understanding of the world, you learn why the world acts the way it does. Not only this, but it also helps your understanding in day-to-day life. For example, why people stare at the numbers in an elevator and are reluctant to make eye contact in this setting. It helps you to stand back, be logical and rational before you simply react.
For example, I have learned that a tend to drift away from my beliefs more than anyone else in my family because I am so curious of other beliefs and the way they view things. I strive to learn about other cultures views and beliefs on things. Facial feedback is so very important. It makes you learn about other people’s .0.0feelings when they aren’t not verbally telling you.
